Stamp Review Crew: Petal Palette Edition

It’s time for the Stamp Review Crew: Petal Palette Edition! If this is your very first visit to one of our hops, the Stamp Review Crew is a group of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set used in a variety of ways, giving you loads of inspiration for that set! The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog. You will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want! This week we are featuring the Petal Palette stamp set, one of my favorites from the Occasions Catalog. If you are following along in order, you have just arrived from the super-talented Tanya Boser.   After visiting me, you will continue to the next stop, the incomparable Bronwyn Eastley. She is always an inspiration. Enjoy this week’s hop!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Petal Palette is my favorite set from the Occasions Catalog. I love the coordinating Petals and More Thinlets, and there is just something about that adorable bird that tugs at my heart.  I loved the birds so much, I had to create a left-facing one.

Stamp Review Crew: Petal Palette EditionTo create the left-facing version, I inked the image with Basic Black Archival Ink and stamped it onto a piece of plastic. (I used the plastic sheet from my Stamp-a-ma-jig.)  I immediately used this plastic sheet as my new “stamp”, stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.  How easy is that? Look how cute they are as they frame the sentiment.  A trio of rhinestones add a bit of bling.

Stamp Review Crew: Petal Palette Edition

Lemon Lime Twist Glimmer Paper paired with Petals & More thinlets were used to create the leaves and border.  The “Floral” Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing Folder adds texture.

This is the fifth card I have made with this bundle, but it may just be my favorite! Here are the others. To see the original post in which they appear, just click on the picture!

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins
Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

Are you ready for a NEW challenge? One with a few interesting twists?  Then you’ve come to the right place!  Welcome to Festive Friday – where every challenge is a party! We’re looking for crafters to be inspired by, but not limited by, our fun holidays.  That’s why every challenge is an and/or type of challenge. Twice a month, on the second and fourth Fridays, we will be celebrating a different festivity.  Now you may be wondering to yourself, “What if I don’t celebrate that particular day of cheer?”  Well, don’t despair! We have an alternative challenge for you.  Our goal is to get you craftin’ and to get you having fun! For our first challenge, your choice is to create a Valentine’s Day project and/or use Sequins.  We can’t wait to see what you create!

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

I selected the Valentine’s Day option, using the Bike Ride stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog. I hope you enjoy today’s card!  As for those twists, I’ll explain them at the end of today’s post.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Texture abounds on today’s card! I used the Sweetheart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background.  You’ll notice that I covered the debossed heart in the center with a Whisper White one created with a framelit from the Sweet and Sassy Framelits set. Tip: To keep the cardstock from cracking, you can lightly mist it with water before running it through the Big Shot.  As you can see, I skipped the misting.

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

Although today’s card is relatively simple to create, with no fancy techniques, there is a lot of stamping and die cutting involved.

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

In an homage to Valentine’s Day, hearts decorate the wheels and fill the basket. A double bow, created from Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon completes the look.

Festive Friday Challenge #1: Valentines and/or Sequins

Although these soft colors are not ones we would typically associate with Valentine’s Day, I think the result is soft and romantic.  What do you think? Won’t you let me know in your comment today?

The Challenge Twists

As I mentioned earlier, Festive Friday is a challenge with a couple of twists.  First, if you do not want to create a Valentine’s Day project, you could create a project that has sequins on it. At Festive Friday, we know that not everyone celebrates the occasions which we will be featuring, so we are offering alternatives for each challenge.  Secondly, and this twist is really exciting, if you play along with us, you will be earning Fest Points which can be redeemed for items such as tutorials, Stampin’ Up! products, cards, and even a spot as a Guest Designer! For all the rules and Fest Point details – and to meet the other design team members, please visit the Festive Friday Challenge blog!

Would you like to create your own Bike Ride card?  If you enjoyed today’s card, and would like to create your own,  the supply list is located below.  Clicking on a product takes you right to my store.  Be sure to use this month’s Host Code.  Online orders over $50 (before tax and shipping) will receive a special little somethin’-somethin’ from me IF you use the Host Code.  Don’t forget, a $50 order will also qualify you for a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!  If your order is $150 or more, please do not use the Host Code.  You will automatically receive the gift from me, as well as your own Host Rewards and Sale-A-Bration items.

On the CASE: The CASE of Daisy Delight

For today’s CASE file, I headed back to the Annual Catalog and the Daisy Delight stamp set.  I always need Thank You cards, and this set has a beautiful Thank You sentiment. The font is gorgeous, don’t you agree?  While there are several samples from which to choose, I opted to CASE the Pool Party card which used the Ruffled 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

On the CASE: The CASE of Daisy Delight

What a versatile layout! Think of all the different color combinations and designer papers you can use. It’s  perfect for using up scraps. Stamping the sentiment on vellum allows just a hint of the pattern to peek through. As I sit here, my mind is already racing ahead to other cards I can’t wait to make. That’s the beauty of CASEing a design: they serve as inspiration to get your own creative juices flowing!

How Hard Was It to Crack This CASE

This is such a pretty card that is so straight-forward to create, with only a smidge of simple fussy cutting involved. What I love about this card is that you can switch out the sentiment, and easily change colors and paper for a card that can be used for all sorts of occasions.  Difficulty Level:  2 out of 5
