The Stamp Review Crew: Alpine Adventure Christmas Card

alpine adventures

It’s time for the Stamp Review Crew:  Alpine Adventure Edition! If this is your very first visit to one of our hops, the Stamp Review Crew is a group of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set used in a variety of ways, giving you loads of inspiration for that set. The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog. You will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop, whenever you want.

This week we are featuring the Alpine Adventure set. If you are following along in order, you have just arrived from Stesha Bloodhart.  After visiting me, you will continue to the next stop, the talented Cindy Elam. Be prepared to be inspired!

Alpine Adventure Christmas Card

For today’s card, I opted to create a Christmas card.  It’s not what I originally envisioned, which was going to be a fabulous confection in Very Vanilla, with skis resting upon against a door.  But as you can see,  I went with a tried and true classic design, featuring the yummy Festive Farmhouse plaid I love so much.

alpine adventureI used several die cuts made with the thinlits from the Alpine Sports collection, which unfortunately are sold out.  (I am so sorry. Our hops are planned weeks in advance, and at the the time I created my project, they were still available.) The sled is the focal point of the card. It was die cut from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, and rests atop an oval which had been embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The sentiment was inked in Soft Suede, although in the picture it looks fairly dark. I attribute the hue to the fact I have a new ink pad.  However, it looks great with the paper.

Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper were used to create a sparkly bow and holly leaves, which accent the sled.

alpine adventureGold foil Snowflakes are randomly adhered around the oval, contrasting perfectly with the Cherry Cobbler plaid.

If you would prefer a sled card with a different color palette, here is one I CASED from the Holiday Catalog.

How Hard Was It to Crack This CASE Don’t be afraid to give this card a try! It really doesn’t take long to create, and the individual steps involved are easy. Difficulty Level: 2 out of 5, simply because of the heat embossing. #SUontheCASE Nicole and I hope our projects today inspire you to try CASEing the catalog, too! We’ll be “on the case”, looking for the hashtag #SUontheCASE on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ & Pinterest). If we find one of your projects, we’ll share it, like it, repost it – we’ll do it all! Now head on over to Nicole at Pixel Maven’s Retreat to see the CASE file she has been working on. Nicole always writes the BEST tutorials! I know what she has CASED this week, and I KNOW you will love it! Did you miss the last On the CASE project? Check it out HERE. Ready to get on this CASE? Gold with Sparkle Christmas Card for PP421

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the talented and creative Jaydee is  hosting a theme challenge: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.

Gold with Sparkle Christmas card

I created a winter scene featuring Sparkle Glimmer paper, Gold Foil and a pair of gold embossed Dashing Deer. I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

There are lots of steps involved in making today’s card, and it is a little time intensive. However, none of the steps are difficult, and the resulting card is well worth the effort, don’t you agree?

The old warhorse, Lovely as a Tree was used to create the backdrop.  The Bare Trees image was inked in Soft Suede, stamped off, and the stamped onto Shimmer White cardstock.

Gold with Sparkle Christmas Card

An oval was die cut from a Shimmer White panel. This panel was then embossed using the Tufted Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Of course, this set the stage for adding Gold Metallic Pearls at each tuft.

The sparkle on today’s card is courtesy of Sparkle Glimmer Paper trees, which were die cut using the tree dies from the In the Woods Framelits collection.  The pine tree is on the left of the oval…

while the deciduous trees are on the right.

Gold embossed deer are nestled cozily near the trees.

The result is a Christmas card, elegant with its touches of gold…and oh, so sparkly! I hope you enjoyed it!  I’ll be anxious to hear what you think of today’s gold with sparkles Christmas card,  so don’t forget to leave a comment.  And don’t forget to visit the rest of the Design Team for more  inspiration!

Festive Friday Tutorial
Your Step-by-Step Guide

1.  Score the Whisper White Thick cardstock at 4-1/4″. Crease with a bone folder. Adhere the Sparkle Glimmer paper to the front of the card.

2.  Ink the large background stamp with Balmy Blue, stamp off once, and stamp in the center of the Whisper White cardstock.  Repeat with the smaller “splotch” stamp, enlarging the image to form a “background”.

3.  Ink the speckle image with Balmy Blue.  Do not stamp off.  Randomly stamp all over the “background”, re-inking each time.

4.  Ink the flourish with Balmy Blue.  Stamp onto the upper left of the “background”.  Ink again and stamp into the lower right section.

5.  Add Blueberry Bushel snowflakes to the upper right and lower left corner of the “background”.

6.  Ink the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel and stamp onto the vellum.  Allow it to dry before handling it.  Adhere to the card, hiding the adhesive under where the glimmer paper snowflakes will be located.

7.  Mat this white layer onto Blueberry Bushel cardstock, and adhere to the card base.

8.   Use the Blizzard thinlit to die cut Sparkle Glimmer Paper snowflakes. Select three, and adhere to the card as shown. Accent the centers with rhinestones.
