hummingbird thank you cardThis week, Claire has a wonderful sketch for us, filled with lovely layers. I was in the mood to do a little watercoloring, so I pulled out my Humming Along set, and colored away.  I hope you like today’s card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Claire’s sketch is one of my favorites.  I love the layers, and the large focal circle is just perfect for highlighting an image, such as the hummingbird from the Humming Along set. I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends and colored away. (The complete details can be found in the free tutorial.) I think all hummingbirds are deserving of a little sparkle,  so I added a few swishes of Wink of Stella.  And don’t forget the details! I used a Basic Gray watercolor pencil to add a few checks and feather marks.

hummingbird thank you cardDon’t you love the circle itself? The top circle was die cut using the Hummingbird framelits Grid die, allowing a watercolored circle to peek through. A few Balmy Blue Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins add a delicate touch of sparkle.

hummingbird thank you cardThe sentiment is from the Florentine Filigree set.  Calypso Coral adds a pop of color in the otherwise sea of Balmy Blue.  Sadly, both the Humming Along and Florentine Filigree bundles are retiring.

Paper Pieced Card for PP438

Ready for a paper pieced teapot card? It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

Paper Pieced Teapot CardThis week, Anne Marie has a Clean and Simple challenge for us:  Paper Piecing.  How fun is that!

Paper Piece Teapot cardBy Clean and Simple, we mean minimal layers and embellishments, plenty of white space, and simple, uncluttered cards. I may have struck out with the minimal layers, but today’s card does have plenty of white space and minimal embellishments.  I hope you enjoy it!

This card is so easy to make! The Needlepoint Nook Designer Paper collection has an adorable pattern which reminded me of Delft pottery.  After stamping the image in Night of Navy ink onto the designer paper,  I put the paper snips to work.  I could have used the Tea Time Framelits dies to die cut it, but I didn’t want paper to show around the stamped edge.  However,  I did use the framelit to cut the teapot from Whisper White cardstock to serve as the base for my paper piece.

paper pieced teapot cardThe grid patterned panel is from the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper collection.  I probably should have left it off to keep the card “cleaner”,  but I thought it and the Pearlized Doily really stepped the card up a notch.

paper pieced tea pot cardThe sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with a Be Mine Stitched framelit heart. A small butterfly,  snipped from the designer paper, served as the perfect accent.
