Copper Accented Christmas Card for PP465

I love the warm glow of a copper accented Christmas card. How about you? It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

copper accented Christmas cardThis week the talented Laurie has a fabulous sketch for us.  I thought it was perfect for showcasing the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements and the beautiful Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. I hope you enjoy today’s card.

When designer series paper is as gorgeous as the Brightly Gleaming collection,  you just can’t go wrong! I used it as my inspiration,  taking my cue from the copper to create this copper accented Christmas card.  I did, however, make a slight error. Instead of using Mint Macaron cardstock, I had planned on using Pear Pizzazz.  As I was concentrating on the movie currently showing on the Hallmark channel, I heat embossed the sentiment on the wrong color. But, I embraced my mistake, and moved forward.

copper accented Christmas cardI felt the large circle would be the perfect place for the large Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements copper star.  I accented it with holly leaves and berries, which I heat embossed in copper and colored with Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.  Don’t you just LOVE the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder?

Brody Update

Brody, who celebrated his 9th birthday along with litter mate Muffy a few weeks ago, visited the vet Thursday. I had discovered an angry lump on his foot as well as another bump on his side.  It appears as if the cancer he has fought so valiantly for over two years has metastasized. The lump on his foot will be difficult to remove, as it has infiltrated the center pad. My vet has concerns about putting him under for a complex surgery at his age.  SO…we are trying to reduce the size of the tumor with meds.

He is in no pain. He eats, drinks, and plays. However, after the discussion with the vet,  I am steeling myself for the difficult decision which may need to be made.  There have been lots of hugs and tears in the last 24 hours.  In the meantime, until we go back to the vet on September 6th to see if progress has been made, we will continue to live each day to the fullest!

Please be sure  to visit The Paper Player team members for more inspiration.

Ice Skates Card for FF0041

If an ice skates card is one of your holiday favorites, you may like this one! It’s Festive Friday time!

ice skates cardThis week we are celebrating Patriot Day with a metallic twist.  As you can tell, I opted for the metallic twist.  I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Oh my gosh,  Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper has me over the moon with its classic plaid patterns and gold accents…just perfect for complementing gold foil ice skates.

ice skates card Isn’t the new Stylish Scroll embossing folder so pretty?  I debated using it, thinking it may have been “too busy” when paired with the gold filigree overlay on the skate.  But, I’m glad I went ahead and used it.

ice skates cardAlthough it may look complicated, this card was easy to make, and really didn’t take long.  It could be easily mass produced.  Just imagine how pretty a stack of these cards would be, when created using all of the different plaid patterns in the package!  Maybe I just found my holiday card for this year…

Paper Measurements:

  • Whisper White Thick cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″)
  • Whisper White cardstock (4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″, 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″, 3″ x 3″)
  • Gold Foil (4-1/4″ x 2-3/4″,  2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″,  2 pieces: 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″)
  • Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″)

Instructions:

1.  Score the Whisper White Thick cardstock at 5-1/2″. Fold and crease to form the card base. Adhere the plaid paper to the card front.

2.  Emboss the 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stylish Scroll embossing folder. Mat onto Gold Foil and adhere to the card base.

3. Punch out a Gold Foil Starburst using the Starburst punch. Stamp the sentiment in Shaded Spruce. Punch out using the 2″ Circle punch and adhere to the Starburst. Add to the card front using dimensionals.

4. Use the Solid Skate from the Detailed Skates Die collection to die cut two skates, one from Gold Foil and one from Whisper White cardstock. Die cut a filigree skate from Gold Foil. Cut the blades from the white skate, and adhere the filigree skate on top. Lace with Whisper White Baker’s Twine. (Use a small whole punch or thick needle to create holes for lacing.)

5. Adhere the solid gold skate to the card base with dimensionals. Adhere the filigree skate on top of the solid gold skate with dimensionals.

6. Thread two Shaded Spruce jingle bells onto Whisper White Baker’s Twine. Create a bow and add to the top of the filigree skate.
