Clean and Simple Sympathy Card

A clean and simple sympathy card in bright colors? What was Ann thinking? It’s time for another Festive Friday challenge.

For this week’s challenge,  we are inspired by the First Day of Summer.  At Festive Friday, you do not need to actually celebrate the occasion.  Your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. I selected sun, bright colors, and patterns from this week’s Inspo List.  I hope you will join us in our challenge this week. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I realize that most of us would not use bright colors for a sympathy card. I usually opt for serene colors in shades of green, with images of flowers, ferns and leaves.  But this card was created to celebrate the life of someone who was as vibrant as the color Poppy Parade.  I know she would have approved of my color choices and the sailboats, which were used to symbolize sailing off into the sunset, as well as her love of the water.  I know her husband will appreciate the symbolism…

I inked up the Lilypad Lake sailboats for my focal point and used the High Seas 3D embossing folder as my background.  This set, with its coordinating dies, and the folder are retiring.  They are perfect for creating clean and simple cards.  Luckily if you do not own this set, there is still time to order it. The sentiment is from the Comfort & Hope set, and is accented by a trio of Champagne rhinestones.  Stampin’ Up! needed a sentiment like this, because sometimes there truly are no words.  Of course, this card could easily be transformed into ANY card you would like simply by changing the sentiment.

  1. PERFECT for someone that loves water and boats

  2. I think this is just right as a sympathy card, especially for someone who loves the water! I love the details the embossed background adds and the sentiment is perfect.
