copper accented Christmas cardThis week the talented Laurie has a fabulous sketch for us.  I thought it was perfect for showcasing the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements and the beautiful Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. I hope you enjoy today’s card.

When designer series paper is as gorgeous as the Brightly Gleaming collection,  you just can’t go wrong! I used it as my inspiration,  taking my cue from the copper to create this copper accented Christmas card.  I did, however, make a slight error. Instead of using Mint Macaron cardstock, I had planned on using Pear Pizzazz.  As I was concentrating on the movie currently showing on the Hallmark channel, I heat embossed the sentiment on the wrong color. But, I embraced my mistake, and moved forward.

copper accented Christmas cardI felt the large circle would be the perfect place for the large Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements copper star.  I accented it with holly leaves and berries, which I heat embossed in copper and colored with Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.  Don’t you just LOVE the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder?

Brody Update

Brody, who celebrated his 9th birthday along with litter mate Muffy a few weeks ago, visited the vet Thursday. I had discovered an angry lump on his foot as well as another bump on his side.  It appears as if the cancer he has fought so valiantly for over two years has metastasized. The lump on his foot will be difficult to remove, as it has infiltrated the center pad. My vet has concerns about putting him under for a complex surgery at his age.  SO…we are trying to reduce the size of the tumor with meds.

He is in no pain. He eats, drinks, and plays. However, after the discussion with the vet,  I am steeling myself for the difficult decision which may need to be made.  There have been lots of hugs and tears in the last 24 hours.  In the meantime, until we go back to the vet on September 6th to see if progress has been made, we will continue to live each day to the fullest!

Please be sure  to visit The Paper Player team members for more inspiration.

I am so sorry to hear about Brody Ann – I’m sure this has been difficult news to process. make the most of each day you have with him whilst he is still without pain – the photo of you both is lovely. On a brighter note – what a gorgeous card! I’m loving all that copper and the hammered embossing does look rather good with that paper and the star. Hugs to you!

  7. I’m so sorry to hear about Brody. He seems to be putting up a valiant fight. It’s a blessing he still enjoys the time he spends with the family. I pray his new medication extends that time with you. On another note, you’re card is lovely. Sometimes a mistake turns into a treasure.

  9. So sorry to hear about Brody. Truly is a very difficult decision with so much to take under consideration. They are family members and add so much to our lives. Will pray for you as you travel through so many emotions! On a positive note, your fabulous paper creations continue to be absolutely gorgeous. What a beautiful card! TFS!

  10. Oh, Ann, I am so sorry to hear this about Brody. Our fur babies have such a chunk of our heart…like all of it…and it’s so hard when…well, you know. I’m glad he’s not in pain and I do hope the meds work. Your card works, that’s for sure. You have just convinced me to put the DSP and 3D folder on my order 8/27 when I try to grab the cutting blades! The star elements and stamp set might fall into the order as well. I’m glad the movie distracted you as I’m pretty sure the Mint was a great mistake. Have a blessed day.

  11. So sorry to hear about the cancer. These decisions, though unavoidable, stay with us as we mourn. My dogs are 15 and I worry constantly. I don’t have funds to treat an illness. Mine no longer leave my side without complaint. I am grateful we can live in the moment and appreciate the blessings we have.
