Butterfly Thank You Card for On the CASE

butterfly thank you card

Woo hoo! Nicole and I are back with another On the CASE. I am working my way through Stampin’ Up!® catalogs, breaking down samples step-by-step, in order to provide you with free tutorials so you can CASE your own. Nicole is using her investigative skills to solve CASES throughout the crafting universe. Let the fun begin!

Today I am CASEing a striking butterfly thank you card from the Occasions Catalog. This card uses the Butterfly Beauty thinlit dies and a sentiment from the Beauty Abounds stamp set.  Both are available in the Beauty Abounds bundle for a 10% savings.

“On the CASE” Notes
Your Step-by-Step Guide

1.  Score the Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4″. Fold and crease with a bone folder.

2.  Run the 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot with the Dot to Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Remove the embossed piece of cardstock, place it on top of the folder, and run it back through the Big Shot.  This will soften the imprint.  Adhere the embossed square to the card base.

Butterfly Thank You3.  Loop gold metallic wire in a circle on top of the embossed panel, holding it in place with glue dots.

4.  Die cut the “lacy wing” butterfly from watercolor paper. Snip out the largest butterfly. Watercolor using an Aqua Painter and Calypso Coral ink. Let dry.

butterfly thank you5.  Die cut the Overlay Butterfly from Basic Black cardstock. Snip out the largest butterfly. Adhere over the top of the watercolored butterfly.  Tip:  Snipping off the head of the watercolored butterfly will eliminate the need to line up the antennae.

6.  Die cut two flourishes from Mint Macaron cardstock.  Adhere to the back of the butterfly as shown.

7.  Adhere the butterfly and flourishes to the card base using dimensionals.

8.  Ink the sentiment with Calypso Coral and stamp onto the 2″ x 7/16″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. Snip a “V” in each end. Adhere to the butterfly with dimensionals.

A Card of Encouragement for PP428

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!  This week, the lovely Laurie is hosting a color challenge for us.  What a fun trio of colors she has selected:  Smoky Slate, Melon Mambo, Basic Gray.

card of encouragement When a new catalog comes out, such as Stampin’ Up!’s  recent Occasions Catalog, I like to mix some of the newly released items with older items.  For this card, I paired new framelits with a stamp set from the Annual Catalog.  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

card of encouragementThere is a story behind today’s card. I have a very good friend who has experienced more than her share of tragedies over the past four weeks. It began when she injured her leg, requiring time off work.  Then sadly, she had to help her Boxer (my Lexi’s littermate) cross over the Rainbow Bridge.  Two weeks later, her sister passed away.  During the time she was away making arrangements, another of of her Boxers sadly crossed the Bridge, and her aunt was placed into hospice care.

I feel that at this time she needs to know that I am here for her,  by her side, helping her weather the storm of bad, and sad, luck which has besieged her.  She loves the cards I create, and has kept every single one I have given her.  I created this card for her.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

In combining the old and the new, I created the sentiment panel using the Friendly Conversation stamp set from the Annual Catalog.  Words were highlighted with Melon Mambo ink, and a touch of sparkle was added with rhinestones.

card of encouragementWonderful Floral framelits were used to create a Melon Mambo rose.  Although not a challenge color, I added Soft Sea Foam leaves.

card of encouragementMelon Mambo polka dot butterflies were punched with the Butterfly Duet punch.  Of course, I had to add a few more rhinestones.

Create with Ann & Wendy

Are you ready for a little stamping fun?  It’s time for the unveiling of Create with Ann & Wendy!

Create with Ann & WendySome of you may remember my very successful Lessons of the Month, with the tagline “It’s like stamping with me, right in my kitchen!”  Well, Create with Ann & Wendy is similar, but with differences.  I have paired up with the talented Wendy Klein, of Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew fame.

Create with Ann & WendyWe will share our creative inspiration as we help you use a featured stamp set in a variety of ways.

Ready to hear more?

Every quarter, we will be releasing two to three kits/tutorials, or as I lovingly call them, “kitorials”!   The first release will include the featured stamp set, tutorials for two different card designs, and supplies (with envelopes), to create 10 cards (5 cards of each design).  Subsequent releases will build upon the first, and will include additional tutorials for cards designed with the featured stamp set. Each kit you purchase will include a tutorial from Ann, a tutorial from Wendy, and coordinating die cuts and embellishments to create a total of 10 cards (5 of each of their designs).   Only your first kit of the quarter includes the stamp set.

*Note: During some months, paper colors/patterns/embellishments in each kit may vary from the original pictured sample.

How It Works:
  • The first Kit and Tutorial (“kitorial”) release includes the featured stamp set and can be purchased through Ann or through Wendy.  Each designer has a set limit of 15 kits. If one designer has sold all of her kits, please check with the other designer to see if she has any kits left.
  • You will receive your downloadable pdf tutorials, with supply lists,  upon payment for your reservation.
  • Your kit will include all pre-cut cardstock, die cuts, embossed pieces, embellishments, and envelopes.  You will need to supply your own ink, embossing powders, and adhesives to finish your kit.
  • If you are ready for more stamping fun and inspiration, you will have the option of  purchasing upcoming “kitorials”  for the featured Stamp Set of the Quarter (2 – 3 releases per quarter).
  • There will be a new stamp set each quarter.

Quarter One:  January – March

Quarter Two:  April – June

Quarter Three:  July – September

Quarter Four:  October – December

  •  The price for Quarter One’s first release is just $39.95, and includes the stamp set AND shipping.  Are you ready for some stamping fun? Just send an email to Ann at kimschach@msn.com or Wendy at wendyklein@doggonedelightfulstampin.com. The designer you contacted will send you a PayPal invoice within 24 hours.
