Sugar Skulls are beautiful.  I find the stories and traditions behind them intriguing.  When I first saw the Inspo List for this challenge, I knew I wanted to use a Sugar Skull image on my card. Thank goodness there are digital images available for purchase online!

Sugar Skull cardI printed the skull image, which I purchased from an Etsy shop,  onto Whisper White cardstock and colored it with Stampin’ Blends. For my image I used Dark Real Red (rose), Dark Call Me Clover (leaves), Light Pumpkin Pie (scrollwork), Dark Pineapple Punch (marigolds, center of flower, diamond), Dark Highland Heather (flowers in cheek), Light Bermuda Bay, Light Night of Navy.  It was a breeze to snip it out. I accented it with rhinestones. Silver Glimmer Paper also adds sparkle!

Sugar Skull cardThe heat embossed frame around the skull sets it off, don’t you think?  It’s from the Swirly Frames stamp set.

  1. Love your card, Ann! Such a beautiful mix of color and sparkle.

  2. Ann – I love this card! Great coloring and inspiration..

  3. This is sooooo awesome, Ann. My daughter has a sugar skull tatoo and it is beautiful. I had never heard about Day of the Dead until last year. Question: what kind of printer do you have that will print on card stock? When I try, mine jams…very frustrating. I want to make one of these for my baby girl.
