The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Created with the Happy Tails stamp set and dog punch,  this little card (4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″) sports tons of details. These hearts were created with the Be Mine Stitched Framelits.  I adore these framelits … and I adore these patterns from the All My Love Designer Series Paper collection.

dog valentineThe Lovely Lipstick sentiment nestles comfortably in a small Rectangles Stitched framelit.  I am SO happy Stampin’ Up! added these to their framelit arsenal.

Dog ValentineI have always loved the phrase, “Dogs leave paw prints on our hearts.”  I am one who believes they certainly do. This little scalloped heart plays homage to this phrase.

dog valentineOf course, the star of this card is the adorable pup. Sporting a Night of Navy collar with a rhinestone dangle, this little guy was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento, with “second generation” Gray Granite spots. (Second generation stamping is just a fancy way of saying,  stamping off.) Isn’t he adorable, performing a perfect sit-stay?

Jackie has already called dibs on this card.  He would like for me to send it to his litter mate sister, Kia. This picture was taken nearly a year and a half ago on the day Kia left to go live in Seattle with Brady the Boy.  They both look as if they knew what was happening. Maybe they can be reunited for a few weeks this summer!

All Occasion Card with Butterflies

Wonderful Romance with Butterflies

The Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Papers are such a beautiful collection of papers! I had this piece of floral vellum already cut, and it was just crying out to me to make it into a versatile all occasion card. Who am I to deny a piece of paper its dream of being transformed into something that is going to be sent off to brighten one’s day?  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

Wonderful Romance with ButterfliesThe Stampin’ Up! Design Tips

One of the pleasant surprises in the Wonderful Floral Framelits collection is this edged label.  Sheer 1/8″ Fresh Fig ribbon laces perfectly through the spaces of this die cut. Plus it is the perfect size for a multitude of sentiments, such as this one from the Forever Lovely stamp set, which works very well for an all occasion card.  The little butterfly is the perfect accent.

Wonderful Romance with ButterfliesI also love the variety of leaf framelits included in this collection. The Crumb Cake leaflets were “frosted” with Whisper White craft ink.  Three little petal pink flowers, inked in Fresh Fig, add a perfect “pop” of color against the Pear Pizzazz leaves, as does the larger butterfly from  Butterfly Gala.

Wonderful Romance with ButterfliesThere are lots of steps involved, but none of them are difficult.  The end result is well worth the time spent, don’t you agree?

Clean, Simple Snow Card for PP245

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely Claire has a Clean and Simple challenge that is so appropriate:  Snowy Day!

Clean Simple Snow cardWhat can I say?  I’m looking at 7 inches of snow that fell late Friday evening into early Saturday.  This is atop the 10+ inches we had last weekend.  So yep…we have a snowy day, and it’s a perfect time to stay in and stamp!  I hope you enjoy my attempt at a clean and simple snow card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Clean and Simple cards are always difficult for me. I’m more of a Dirty and Layered type of stamper…and this card was no exception.  Here was my first attempt:

clean simple snow cardTwo icy trees and a snow laden evergreen were cut from Sparkle Glimmer paper, as well as two billowy snow drifts.  The little bird is from the Sitting Pretty set. I made him a cardinal. Believe it or not, when I was growing up, the cardinal was my elementary school’s mascot. The sentiment is from the retired Alpine Adventure stamp set.

However, this card just didn’t seem right. The sentiment “dirtied” my snow. The bird looked like it was floating on the surface of the tree.  And those icy trees, which are usually gorgeous, were misplaced. So I followed MY number one rule of making Clean and Simple cards:  When I think I’m finished, I start removing items.  The first to come off was the sentiment.  Then the tree on the right.  But since that left me with an even number of trees, (I prefer odds), I removed the other one.   And if that wasn’t enough, I cut off the legs of the bird.  I know that sounds mean, but I nestled him in the branches of the evergreen so he could safely recuperate.

clean simple snow dayWhen it was all said and done, I ended up with a card which I think is much cleaner, and definitely simpler.  I can’t wait to create a few more of these.  Hmm…could I have already found my holiday card for 2019?
