Summer Vacation Card for PP444

Looking to create a summer vacation card? How about one with a nautical theme?  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

summer vacation cardThis week, I am hosting a theme challenge:  Summer Vacation!  To be perfectly honest, as I began planning today’s card, I was heading in a completely different direction, something more along the lines of a beach theme with perhaps palm trees.  That was before I explored the fabulous cards in the new Come Sail Away Memories & More card pack.  Isn’t the cutout background paper awesome?  The “You, Me and the Sea” card really caught my attention.   The entire collection reminds me of coastal New England, which is definitely an area I would LOVE to visit on vacation.  Enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

So many of the elements found on today’s card come from the Come Sail Away Memories & More card pack. The focal sentiment, which was cut using the largest Layering Oval die, is from one of the cards in the pack. The background “water” is actually one of the laser cut designs! And “The Perfect Day”? Why that is a sticker!

summer vacation cardOf course,  the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing dies, available as a bundle, also play key roles in the creation of this card.  The sailboats were inked in Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Night of Navy, and cut out with the corresponding die.

summer vacation cardThe Old Olive seaweed, Silver Foil wheel, and Crumb Cake rope edge were all die cut using dies found in the collection. The nice thing about the foil wheel is that it doesn’t add bulk and is easy to mail.

Father’s Day Card for FF0035

Ready to honor the father in your life with a watercolored Father’s Day card? That’s exactly what I’ve made for Festive Friday, where we are celebrating Father’s Day with a Blue twist!

father's day cardIsn’t this a great Father’s Day card? It’s also suitable for a masculine birthday, too.  It features the “A Good Man” stamp set, available in Stampin’ Up!’s new Annual Catalog, set to go live June 4th. I opted to focus on both the Father’s Day aspect of the challenge, and the color blue. Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The “wow” factor on today’s card is the colored image of a relaxing dad. Can you believe coloring has never been easier? I simply used a variety of Stampin’ Blends®.   For the exact colors, simply click on the tutorial button found at the end of the Design Tips section.

Father's Day cardAs you can see, there is a slight sparkle on the sand. I applied a very light layer of Shimmery White embossing paste.  Not only is there a sheen, there is a wee bit of “sandy” texture.  Notice the tiny little speckles? I used a toothbrush dipped in watered down ink to flick a few speckles for interest.

Father's Day cardNight of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine, available June 4th, is used to suspend an anchor from behind the sentiment.  The Sail Away Trinkets will also be available June 4th.  What I love about this card is that it is perfect for a birthday card, as well as Father’s Day…and you don’t even need to switch out the sentiment!
