Father’s Day Card for FF0035

Ready to honor the father in your life with a watercolored Father’s Day card? That’s exactly what I’ve made for Festive Friday, where we are celebrating Father’s Day with a Blue twist!

father's day cardIsn’t this a great Father’s Day card? It’s also suitable for a masculine birthday, too.  It features the “A Good Man” stamp set, available in Stampin’ Up!’s new Annual Catalog, set to go live June 4th. I opted to focus on both the Father’s Day aspect of the challenge, and the color blue. Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The “wow” factor on today’s card is the colored image of a relaxing dad. Can you believe coloring has never been easier? I simply used a variety of Stampin’ Blends®.   For the exact colors, simply click on the tutorial button found at the end of the Design Tips section.

Father's Day cardAs you can see, there is a slight sparkle on the sand. I applied a very light layer of Shimmery White embossing paste.  Not only is there a sheen, there is a wee bit of “sandy” texture.  Notice the tiny little speckles? I used a toothbrush dipped in watered down ink to flick a few speckles for interest.

Father's Day cardNight of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine, available June 4th, is used to suspend an anchor from behind the sentiment.  The Sail Away Trinkets will also be available June 4th.  What I love about this card is that it is perfect for a birthday card, as well as Father’s Day…and you don’t even need to switch out the sentiment!

  1. Your detail on the scenery is amazing! Love the sandy texture, coloring, and splatters!

  2. Love it! You are a master at water coloring! Thank you for the tips on how you created the sand and texture. I have that embossing paste and you have inspired me to actually use it!

  3. This is awesome Ann! I love how you paired the stamp set with the nautical elements. Your shading looks fantastic on that image, too. Wow!

  4. I love the sandy texture – it’s the first thing I noticed! Great use of the shimmery embossing paste. How nice that it dried mostly clear, leaving just the shimmer behind.

  5. Dang, can’t believe that Father’s Day is just around the corner already.
What a lovely masculine card Ann and really like the idea that it can be used for birthday or Father’s Day. Wonderful water coloring as well. That anchor just adds a nice little touch to the whole card.
Enjoy your day and have yourself a great weekend.

  6. Love this…your sand looks so real! Makes me want to go to the beach!

Well, better get going I need to go get Teddy some birthday treats from the dog bakery.

  8. What great blending! This is a great stamp set and you used it well. The added trinket gives it one more “oomph”.

  9. Love your watercoloring. The texture from the Stitched circle and the subtle EF really addto the interest.
