Thinking of You

“Thinking of You” cards are the perfect way to lift someone’s spirit and let them know you care. Most importantly, you don’t need a “real” reason to send one. It could be as simple as the name implies – you were indeed thinking of that person. It’s Sunday and time to play at The Paper Players!

This week, the fabulous Stef is hosting our color challenge. What a delightful quartet of colors she has selected for us: Purple, Yellow, Aqua and Green. Of course, when I saw these colors, I immediately thought of flowers. However, there are so many ways you can use these hues. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Today’s card was created using the Memorable Blooms bundle. Sadly, the dies have moved to the Discontinued List. However, the stamp set is still available. I LOVE this floral image from it. I stamped the image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and used Stampin’ Blends to color it. The leaves were colored with Granny Apple Green and Old Olive. For the blossoms I used Summer Splash, Fresh Freesia, and Highland Heather. The sentiment is from the Wonderful Thoughts set. It was inked in Gorgeous Grape. In case you were wondering, the foliage was die cut from vellum using the Memorable Blooms dies, and then colored with a Fresh Freesia blend. The gingham pattern from the Floral Delight designer series paper collection adds a cheery “pop” of yellow.

Hi, everyone! It’s me! Nueve! I got to go see Doc Rita Wednesday for my 6-week check-up. And guess what! I got good news! She said that even though I wasn’t putting all of my weight on my “owie” leg yet, I was doing better. After touching my leg and moving it, she took me back to the special room and took more of those strange pictures. She then showed them to my mom and dad. She said my bones were lined up perfectly. I’m not quite sure why she was talking about my bones. I keep them in a big plastic bowl in the living room. They are not lined up at all.

Maybe she was thinking about my ‘corns. I had them lined up so they could take a nap under the table.

Doc Rita did tell Mom that I could go on longer walks and that I could trot. I don’t have to come back to see her for THREE weeks. But I still can’t can’t run, jump, go up and down stairs or play with Sixxy or Uncle Q.

I watched them run and play for a long time yesterday. I stood by Mom and Dad.

When I got bored of just holding my sloth ball in my mouf, Mom played a very special game of fetch with me. Dad held me while Mom took Mr. Slothie to the middle of the yard and put him down. Then she came back and took my lead and we trotted out to get him.

We did this three times! It was so fun to be able to trot again! It made me really tired though. Sixx was really tired, too. She was my cuddle buddy while we took a nap.

My mom was so happy that I got a good report from Doc Rita. Dad was happy. Doc Rita was happy, too. Making people happy is my most important job. I am a Working Dog! I am Good Boy Nueve!

Those florals are so pretty Ann and the addition of the coloured vellum leaves adds a lovely delicate touch. I really like the pop of yellow from the outer border – I think you nailed the balance of colour perfectly. So glad to hear Nueve had a good report – he will get there!

  4. This is a card to save…the color combinations alone are classic! Again, I wasn’t going to get that stamp set but you always have a new and delightful use for stamps that now it’s on my “Next Order” list. Nueve, congratulations are in order! Take it slow and you’ll be back to your former self in no time! Butterscotch is cheering for you.

Ann, your card is just beautiful! The embossed background, the gorgeous bouquet and the purple vellum is fabulous!!! I love the idea of using color on the vellum. Your card will brighten someone’s day.
SUCH GREAT NEWS on Nueve!!!!!!! He is a GOOD BOY!!!!!! You are such a wonderful Mom to all of them! I am smiling knowing he is getting stronger!
Have a great week, My Friend!

  8. Fabulous card! Great color combo! So happy to hear the good news about Nueve!!! I know y’all are relieved!!!

  9. This card is so delicate and soft – you’ve really tamed the colours. The coloured vellum leaves are absolute stars! What a fantastic idea. Lovely card, as always Ann.

  10. Your card came together so beautifully, Ann! I love this design with the octagon shape cut from the embossed panel, and those flowers are just so beautifully colored. I need to remember your trick of coloring vellum with an alcohol marker, that and cutting an opening rather than adding a shape on top. I’m always a student of your designs, my friend!

Great news about Neuve! Your care is really paying off. And what a good boy he is!

  11. PRETTY card Ann! LOVE the velum leaves

  12. The color challenge looked a bit daunting to me (except for an Easter card), but you really pulled it off with a beautiful creation! I really like the vellum leaves.
Nueve is so funny! I love the pix of him with his Slothie. Does he really lineup his unicorns like that? The bone bowl comment was really funny.
Give him a kiss on the nose for me! Huggs

  13. Lovely card but even better is the uipdate on Nueve. You and dad are so solicitous and caring of your charges. Thank God for people like you who balance some of the horrific, irratioal and sadistic abuses hurled at animals.

  14. I love this card! The background embossing and those vellum leaves are just beautiful! And great news about Nueve—he’s getting there!!!

  15. Bonnielee McGuire
