“Plane” and Easy Father’s Day Card

There is nothing plain about today’s “Plane” and Easy Father’s Day card. It Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

It’s Theme Week at The Paper Players and the talented Jan has selected a fun theme for us: Travel! It can include ways to travel and/or places to travel. As you can see, I went the “Way to Travel” route with my “plane” and easy Father’s Day card. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Oh, what a lazy stamper I have become! Once again, I am letting the paper do all of the work, assisted by the Perennial Postage die set. This card is easy-peasy. The nostalgic bi-plane paper is from the Take To The Sky Designer Series Paper collection, as is the Copper Clay check/plaid pattern. The Copper Clay pattern was adhered to Night of Navy cardstock to form the card front. The plane paper was mounted onto a Smoky Slate mat which was mounted onto a Night of Navy Perennial Postage die cut panel. Linen thread was wrapped around the bottom of the panel. The panel was then “popped” up on the card base with dimensionals. The “cattywampus” alignment is different from what I usually do. It adds interest without being overly fussy. The sentiment, from the Adventurous Skies stamp set, was inked in Night of Navy and stamped onto Basic White cardstock. A Night of Navy mat sets it off.

Clean and vintage all in one – those papers are perfect for a masculine card and aeroplanes are one of my favourite ways to travel, although I prefer something a little larger with modern comforts!

  2. Ann, I love this card. That DSP is gorgeous – I need to go track it down – and you showcased it beautifully. The little touches of scalloped edges add interest and softness. Perfect masculine card.

  3. You chose some fabulous papers to use for a Father’s Day card and this theme! The tilt of the panel acts to create even more movement for those wonderful bi-planes. Love this, Ann!

Ann, this is such a fantastic masculine card! Isn’t it great when the DSP does the work! I love the color combo and the plaid background! Just perfect!

  5. Absoluty gorgeous card congrats 😊💐 happy day

  6. Lazy doesn’t mean unappealing…I love letting the paper do most of the work and it has done its job here! What a great way to interpret Jan’s theme—and the colors are fun as well! Any father would love to receive this card!

Ann… so smart to include mode of transport with Father’s Day!!

  8. Lovely card, Ann. The planes are great of course but they’re also a journey in time, bringing a sense of by-gone days – a vintage feel. The colours are both masculine and vintage. The whole thing adds up to a wonderful whole. 🙂

  9. Great card, Ann! I really like your design. This would be perfect for my son-in-law who is a pilot for United. Too bad I don’t have this DSP! bummer!

  10. Such a great masculine card.
    Your card reminded me of Frank Sinatra song;
    ‘ Come Fly With Me . . .’
    Weather-wise, it’s such a lovely day
You just say the words, and we’ll beat the birds
    Down to Acapulco bay
It’s perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say
Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly
    Pack up, let’s fly away!
(U know of course that song will be in my head all day now. 🙂
