Another Round for Your Birthday

How about another round for your birthday? It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players.

Another Round for Your BirthdayThis week, the talented Anne Marie is hosting our theme challenge.  What a fun theme she has picked for us: Food and/or Beverages!  Today I am showcasing one of the bundles from the recently released Annual Catalog called Brewed for You.  This bundle contains a cute variety of glassware with coordinating dies, and was perfect for creating a birthday card for one of our friends. He actually brews his own beer! I can’t wait to see what food and/or beverage you showcase on your card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

This is one of my favorite layouts for showing off the new Dots & Spots die.  I LOVE polka dotted paper, and  thanks to Stampin’ Up!’s new Dots & Spots die, I can create polka dotted paper in any color combination I want. It was a breeze to create this Daffodil Delight and Merry Merlot panel for today’s card.  A mug and a glass, filled with frosty beer, along with a glass of merlot, form a fun focal point. The sentiment was die cut out using a Stitched Rectangle die, and matted on top of a die cut banner made with a Stylish Shapes die. Easy peasy!

Nueve’s Notes

Hi, Everyone! It’s me, Good Boy Nueve!  Boy, have I got news.  I got shot. Mom took me to Dr. Rita, and she gave me a shot in my neck to protect me from Dee’s Zeesas.  I was a good boy, though. I didn’t move at all. When we were done, I got a treat.  I found the pocket where Dr. Rita keeps them,  and she gave me another one.  People who work for Dr. Rita kept poking their head in the room, and telling me how handsome I was, and what a good boy I was.  I felt really special.  When we left Dr. Rita’s, Mom and Dad took me to the park. We had fun!  We got to sit on the slide. I look gigantic in this picture because of how Dad took the picture.

We also had our picture taken by a big rock.  Mom said someone named Pike raised a flag here in 1805.  It was the first time anyone raised a flag in what would become the state of Iowa.  Mom said this same man later had a whole mountain named after him in a place called Colorado. I thought that was kind of funny.  Here he has a rock. There he has a whole mountain.

When we got home from the park, I made a new friend. It was a funny looking bug.  I wanted to play with it, but it must have been tired.  It didn’t want to play.

I thought it looked like it was holding little flags.  I named it Pike, like the man from olden days who raised the flag in the park.

another round for your birthdayI also got to play show dog last weekend with my friend, Michelle.  I got more ribbons.

another round for your birthdayI got to go back in the show ring a second time that day, but Michelle had to take another dog in, and couldn’t take me.  So, I got to go back in with Stacy.  She is nice.  Her mom took our picture. You can’t tell it in this picture, but her shirt was really sparkly. She was feeding me treats. I like her. Her dog is named Panda.  He is HUGE! He’s a Saint Bernard.

Well, I have to go. Mom is telling me she has more things to write.  Maybe I can help her. After all, I am a working dog.  I am Good Boy Nueve.

  1. Ann, I LOVE this card. I love how you clustered your drinks and the little bit of twine adds another wonderful touch of dimension and texture! Mmmm… think I might need this set!
    hugs

  2. I’ll raise a glass to this card, Ann! the color combo really pops and I just love all of the polka dot elements. Super cute and totally “toast-worthy”…see what I did there. LOL! Thanks for rocking my challenge! Big hugs!

  3. Love your drinks card, Ann! That Daffodil Delight/Merry Merlot color combo is just perfect for your images. I hardly ever use Merry Merlot, I will have to give it a try with Daffodil Delight sometime soon, you made it look so good!

    • Also congrats to Nueve on being a good boy at the dog show! Hope he enjoyed the park too. Our girl Sadie used to love going to the park and would go slide down the slide if given the opportunity.

  4. I love this fun card, Ann! Wine, beer and polka dots! Such a great card for any guy! Your friend will love it! It sure made me smile! Look at Handsome Nueve. He is a shining star!

  5. Sharon Broussard

Love that polka dot die…it’s been on my list list and has now moved up my list. I almost had a heart attack reading Neuve’s first few sentences. I reread it before moving on…lol Love the slide picture!! What kind of bug is that?
Congratulations on your new ribbons. You are such a handsome boy!!

  6. There you go again, using that fun background die….I am definitely putting that on my “NEED” list! What a cool card, especially for a guy! And Nueve is such a good boy! You can tell him my first married name was PIKE! No relation to a rock or a mountain namer, unfortunately!

  7. I love this Ann – and in addition to the drinks, it is indeed a great way to showcase that die. You had me sold on it the last time you used it – and then I totally forgot to add it to my order last week (along with catalogues, double doh!!) I think I need a helper – is good boy Nueve free?! A great card!!

  8. Fun card. I like the idea you could use this set for other beverages and not just beer (I don’t even like the smell of beer). – Your dog is very handsome. We use to have a slide like that at one of the grade schools in town. I remember sliding down it as a kid.

  9. Hi Ann!! Hi Nueve!!! My God!!! you must have a preety important collection of ribbons. Well done!!! You deserve them all!!!

  10. SO much to celebrate here, Ann! I great masculine card, for a special friend! And ribbons for Nueve! Loved the photos!

  11. Bonnielee McGuire

Wow Ann. I saw that stamp set and passed right over it, not being a drinker. You sure made a great card from it! And Nueve, well, he’s just the best!! He’s such a good writer. Can’t believe that bug!! Thanks for all you do!

  12. Doggone it (pun intended), Ann! Just when I say, “I think I’ll skip that bundle,” you come along with a great card using that bundle! Now I’ll have to get it so I can CASE your card! LOL. I like the idea of changing it to root beer or a float if you’re not a drinker. And tell Good Boy Nueve that Butterscotch is very proud of his accomplishments!

  13. Chris from Pella

Great card. For those who don’t want wine or beer they can make the mug a root beer float or something I would think. Love your choice of colors. I was wondering about the photo with the slide that he can’t be that big! Dr. Rita spoils her patients with treats as I remember from my mom’s dog going there. Glad you got your shot for prevention Nueve. Looking forward to your next adventure!

  14. Ann, love your card! The drinks look yummy and I love the color combo! And now I must have that die-I love polka dots!! Love the Neuve stories! Have a great week!

  15. Oh Nueve you are so handsome and such a good writer, I’m glad your mom let you post. It’s great to see the smile on her face when she’s with you. Tell her I like her card and to please let you continue to blog.

  16. What a relief having more men cards to work with. I’ll get busy soon and do a man card using this stamp set. So cute.
Love the stance Neuve takes, so professional looking and we folks all get a kick out of your stories about the doggies in your family.

  17. Maria A Rodriguez

Ann, this is such a fun card, perfect for any celebration and for anyone who enjoys a nice, cold beer on a hot Summer day!!!
Now, about Nueve and that bug…….what in the world is it???? I’ve never seen a bug like that, thank goodness for the screen on the window, this bug belongs outside.
And Nueve looks amazing, what a gorgeous doggie she is, and so photogenic, she reflects the love she gets every day from you.
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful pictures with us.
    Stay healthy and safe.
    XO

  18. Love your card. This is the stamp and dies I’ll be using for my card, which will post tomorrow. Tell Neuve from what I could see in the pic with Miss Stacy that he was the most handsome working dog. Have a blessed day and TFS.
