Card #2: Hand Penned Memories & More Card Base

This week the talented Anne Marie is hosting our monthly Clean and Simple challenge, with a theme of polka dots. Remember,  at the Paper Players,  Clean and Simple refers to cards which:

Have plenty of open, or “white” space

Have minimal layers and embellishments

Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Today’s card is easy peasy, and oh-so-cute! Just switch out the sentiment, and voilà! You’ve created a Sweet Strawberry birthday or hello card. The adorable rectangle with stitching was created using a die from the Nature’s Thoughts collection.  The stitching is such an adorable detail.  For this Clean and Simple challenge, I used a Basic White card base. However,  I prefer the alternate card, which uses a Hand Penned Memories and More card as the card base.  I just LOVE this Pool Party dotted pattern!

Miss Muffy Speaks
Muffy and Mom

Hi! It’s Muffy here!  I know.  It’s been years since I have talked with you. I know when Mom started her blog, I used to talk with you a lot. I used to talk about my favorite stamps and also about the perks of being a demonstrator.  There were pictures, pictures, and more pictures of me and my brother, Brody.  But things change.  I got busy being a show dog.  Then I became a mom, and my days were filled with raising my babies.  Later, I took care of educating my little nieces and nephews.  Now I am enjoying helping my Mom build memories and just basking in the sunshine.

A long time ago my Mom posted on the blog that I tested “At Risk” for Degenerative Myelopathy, a disease which is similar to ALS in people. Luckily, it usually doesn’t start to show symptoms until we are older. Well, I know it doesn’t seem possible, but now I am older.  I have the disease.

I am currently dragging my left rear foot, and occasionally both rear feet. I have very little strength left in my rear, and I sometimes collapse.  But on the brighter side, I am not in physical pain,  I still rule the Schach Pack, and I still LOVE to eat.

I just wanted you all to know that even though I may not have written in a long time, I cherished getting to know so many of you.   Hopefully I will get a chance to talk with you soon!  And please, be patient with my Mom if she doesn’t post a lot or email right away.  Chances are, she is helping me…

  1. Im just catching up on email and when I saw your beautiful CAS cards using the Strawberry stamps / punch i just loved it. I’m so happy I can finally order it.
Also loved hearing from Miss Muffy. She might not be dancing these days, but in my opinion she hasn’t missed a beat.
    Tugs on my heart strings.
    Blessings to you all.

  2. Hi Muffy,
Harry here saying hello. I must admit, I have missed hearing from you. Love seeing the photo of you and your mom. You are as pretty as always. I think I’m blushing. Take care of yourself.
    Puppy hugs,
    Your Harry
    p.s. Lisa says hello too!

  3. Ann, before I get to your card I want to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and beautiful Miss Muffy! I know you are treasuring your time with her right now. Please give her (and you) a HUGE hug from me! I love your fun strawberry card, too. That polka dot paper is the one print in that pack I haven’t really used but NOW I’m inspired to cut it up. SO fun with the strawberries!

  4. Well, Muffy steals the show this week. Warm hugs to both of you! My heart hurts for you Ann!
Your cards are CAS perfection! I love the polka dot backgrounds and your straw berries look delicious!
Thinking of you and Muffy and lifting you up in prayers!

  5. Ann, it’s always hard to watch our babies at this stage of life. What a wonderful photo of the two of you. I remember when she was a wee baby and know the joy she has brought you. As for your card – what a wonderful representation of summer and that black and white polka dot paper is the perfect background to your bright red berries.
    hugs

  6. Love this, Ann. A beautiful CAS and even more lovely showcase of polka dots. Such a striking design.

  7. This card looks luscious enough to eat! Those berries are perfect! As for poor Muffy, I am glad she is not in pain but I can imagine it’s hard on you. Take care of her and you!

  8. Sorry to hear about Muffy. It is hard to watch them get old. Our fur babies have such a special spot in our lives. Our hearts are touched by their unconditional love as well. Enjoy every moment. Thanks for the update.

  9. The strawberries are a great pairing with the polka dots and the second version is a great way to show (and use!) more DSP! Hugs to you and your sweet Muffy; it’s so tough seeing our dogs age. Have a great week!

  10. I love both of your strawberry cards Ann – the first one is super CAS; I too like the second one for that additional injection of colour it gives. Hugs to you and Muffy!

  11. Oh my, both of your cards are so sweet…I LOVE strawberries, so I would love anything you do! And please give Muffy a big hug from us and we understand that taking care of her is TOP priority!

  12. Oh, what a sweet letter from you, Muffy. Getting older has lots of perks and along with that, a lot of challenges. It saddens me to read of your challenges now, and as an older person I understand but will be thinking of you, Muffy. Hang in there and keep your mom as busy as you possibly can. Blessings to you each!

  13. Muffy and all of the fur babies are so fortunate to have a “Mom” like you, Ann!

Love the cards with the strawberries!

  14. Jeena Huntzinger

Muffy, you are so brave! Thank you for filling us in on your life and how you’re feeling. My cats, General Catton and Eleanor (Queen of Norway), send you kitty kisses and purrs. Ann, you are such a devoted dog mom!

  15. So sorry to hear about Muffy! I was actually thinking about contacting you as my boxer Boo was just diagnosed with DM as well. I was wondering with your contacts in the dog world if you knew some protocol that would help. Boo has both of the marker genes and has started dragging her right rear leg.

  16. What a sweet looking card.
    Hugs&kisses to you Muffy

  17. Ann I hope you will write a book some day about your fur babies. Today I am so thankful for your Muffy and for your blog coming from her perspective. Such sweetness. I am glad she is not suffering and even happier she’s still by your side. Great photo of the two of you!
