Floral Birthday Card for PP448

Ready to try your hand at making a washi tape flower with a ribbon center? That is exactly what adorns today’s floral birthday card.  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

Floral Birthday cardThis week,  Joanne has lined up a fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for us.  She has chosen some of her favorite things, as well as a few items which she don’t use often, to create the grid. Your goal is to select at least three elements across, down or diagonally, and feature them on your card.  As for me, I opted to do them all!  I hope you enjoy today’s floral birthday card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Have you been itching to try the Pressed Petal Specialty Washi Tape? Each roll contains peel-and-stick flower petals which you can use to create your own flowers. I punched a 3/4″ circle from Crumb Cake cardstock to form my base. For the flower center, I went old school, and created the center from Crushed Curry Crinkled Seam Binding.  I say old school, because I used to make flowers from Stampin’ Up!’s seam binding years ago. All you need to do is pull on a thread from the middle of one end of the ribbon, and shirr along its length!

floral birthday cardSo Saffron and Old Olive Perennial Essence Vellum was used to create the die cut and punched leaves (Wild Rose dies, Leaf punch). Using vellum gave the die cuts a softer look, which coordinated so well with the Pressed Petal designer series paper.

I originally had only a die cut band under the flower, which was made using one of the dies from the Wild Rose collection. However, it was getting “lost” in the paper. I happened to have a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock which had been previously embossed with the Lace 3D folder. I cut it down to size and used it underneath the die cut.  It looks like it was inlaid.  Of course, I just had to add a few gold metallic pearls as accents.

  7. I had so much fun making four of these cards before church today. They turned out as expected and were beautiful. I feel so honored to sit at your feet and learn. I like knowing I also can make something I feel proud to give another. Luckily I had all the supplies necessary. I did add one of the birds from the May paper pumpkin kit ..I am thinking they might sell these incoming catalog (fingers crossed). I so look forward to your posts. Thank you for helping me.
