Sail Away with the PPA

It’s Thursday and time to play along with this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge..Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Not Quite Navy.  I hope you enjoy another vintage-style nautical card featuring one of my favorite Last Chance Accessories items…Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets! Of course,  this card is all about the Pearls!
CherryMustardNight
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
  • Embedded Pearls!  Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets take on a whole new look when Large Basic Pearls are inserted into their centers.
  •  Pearls in a line are so fine!  For an unexpected twist, I embellished the rope rigging with a string of Basic Pearls.
  •  Pearls in a curve accent the curls!

  • Anchors Away! A Not Quite Navy Anchor from The Open Sea was fussy cut and accented with a snippet of Cherry Cobbler/White Baker’s Twine.  And what do I spy with my little eye?  Why a pearl, of course!
  •  Cobbler bows! A trio of Baker’s Twine and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bows are affixed to a Vintage Trinkets Safety Pin for a touch of fun!
  •  The rest of the story!  The Sail Away sailboat was stamped with Early Espresso Craft Ink and embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Edges were roughed with the Seven Sided Tool from the Cutter Kit and distressed with Soft Suede ink.  Instant speckling was achieved with the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, while the waterspots were achieved with the Waterspot stamp from the French Foliage set.
So there you have it! What do you think? Please let me know by leaving me a comment.  I think that with the touches of Pearls, it could be given to a woman as well as a man.  And in celebration of the Pearls I used, don’t forget the Bite of Blog Candy I am offering.  The winner will be listed in tomorrow’s Buried Treasure post.  Of course, if you ever have questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

A PPA Peek, Free Pearls and Twin Talk

Whew! What a holiday weekend! A wedding! Graduation! Four days of dog shows! I survived, but boy do I feel like I am behind. Since there are tons of things to talk about, let’s get started with the Pals Paper Arts Peek. It’s curled…It’s pearled…It’s spritzed!  I hope that you join me Thursday for the reveal.  And as a little thank-you for your comments through Thursday, I will be giving away FREE pearls to one lucky randomly selected person. The winner will be named Friday.

Twin Talk

The Twins had an eventful week, starting with a possible puppy poisoning.  As usual, they would love to tell you all about it.

Muffy:  “Hi” Mom’s stamper friends.  Wait ’til you hear what happened.  Mom tried to poison us! Can you believe it?  She let us eat poisonous plants from the backyard.  She wasn’t paying attention to us, so Brody and I thought we would try our paws at landscaping.  There were these big plants called “Hosta”…
Brody:  I thought you said they were “pasta”, Muffy!  I didn’t think they tasted like pasghetti.
Muffy:  No, Brody, I clearly and distinctly said “hosta”.  And the word is “spaghetti”!   Anyway, we got rid of two of the hosta plants.  We tore the plants apart and then chased each other around the yard carrying those big leaves in our mouths.  When Mom checked on us, she wasn’t very happy.  She got on her ‘puter and found out that hostas can be toxic to dogs.  So she called the vet.
Brody:  And we had to drink salt water to make us lose everything in our tummies.
Muffy:  Brody got really sick.  Mom had to lay with him and pet his tummy.  I only got a little sick ’cause I’m a girl and we are stronger than boy dogs.
Brody:  It was terrible. I don’t ever want to eat pasta again.
Muffy:  It’s hosta, not pasta…you ninny!  Mom made Dad get rid of the hosta and some other plants listed on the “bad plant” list she found.  Now the back yard looks really ugly.
Brody:  You look really ugly!
Muffy:  That’s not what the judges thought!  I was named Winner two out of the four days, and won two more points toward my Champion title.  It won’t be long until I will be called “Ch. Cimarron’s Do You Know the Muffin Man”.
Brody:  Why would you want to be called “Chuh”?
Muffy:  It’s not pronounced “chuh”.  The “Ch” stands for “Champion”.
Brody:  Well I was a winner, too, Muffy!  The judds think I am handsome!
Muffy:  You weren’t a winner, Brody!  You were a “Reserve” Winner twice.  It just means you were the best of the losers.
Brody:  I am not  a loser.  MOM…Muffy’s being mean again!

So there you have it! The vet did recommend that we “purge the puppies” just in case they had ingested hosta.  I had no idea that hosta was poisonous to dogs. For a list of poisonous plants, click HERE.  You may be surprised at what is listed.  As for the show, the Twins did a fabulous job.  Muffy was named Winners twice, winning two more points toward her title, and Mr. Brody was named Reserve twice, which is very good for a little puppy boy.  Until next time…
