Button Buddies for The Paper Players

From the moment I saw Button Buddies, I knew this was one set I “needed”.   It is definitely not my usual vintage stamp of choice, nor is it one that I would water color or emboss resist.  I just thought it was cute. Period.  I thought the “Flowers” stamp was the perfect choice for today’s Paper Players Color Challenge, as were the Baja Breeze and Poppy Parade patterns from the new Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper. I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Start with a good sketch!  I searched for one which would allow me to showcase the patterns from the Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper I selected. I decided on this fabulous one from the Mojo Monday archives.
  • A touch of the unexpected! Stampin’ Up!’s Grid Paper, adhered to Whisper White card stock for strength, makes an adorable background for the Flowers image! The vase was stamped twice, snipped out, and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Of course, everything goes better with pearls!

  • Houndstooth! Crumb Cake card stock was zipped through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die.  The Large Scallop trim was then embossed using the new Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Topping it off is a Basic Gray Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, stitched with White Baker’s Twine and a snippet of Crumb Cake Seam Binding.

  • What a difference three pearls make!  After I photographed my card, I thought the Baja panel looked a little plain.   Three large Basic Pearls were added…
and now it looks “pearl-fect”!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card AND I hope that you learned a little something new from my tips.  I am so looking forward to sharing EVERYTHING I learn at Convention with you.  And you know what…several of you have convinced me to take my laptop with me.  So I am going to give it a try!
My house looks like a whirlwind has hit as I try to finish up my PPA design team cards before I depart for Convention.  I still have one card to make, posts to write, Twins to bathe, and a house to clean…all before Monday afternoon.  Whew!  I am so looking forward to Convention as a welcome getaway! As always, your comments are important to me. Of course, the teacher in me loves answering your questions about the cards that I create and the techniques that I use…so never hesitate to email me with your questions! Until next time…

A Peek at the Players

It is time for your Saturday peek at this week’s Paper Players card.  I really liked how it turned out, and I hope you will, too! I used new designer paper, a new embossing folder and a new stamp set.  So please make certain to join me in tomorrow’s reveal!
I would like to thank everyone who left comments on the Summertime Blues card.  However, there can only be one winner.  And the winner, as randomly selected is:

#52 The Stamping Lady
“Awesome interpretation of Summertime Blues. I can just see that chair sitting out on the front veranda. It’s a stunning card with all the different elements–love the flower and use of the lacey border punch. D”

Dar, if you will email your address to me, I will get your card sent right out to you! And if you didn’t win this time, there will be other opportunities, as I plan on sharing more of my cards with you!

Brody Update

The serum eyedrops seem to be helping Brody’s eye.  However, we are still not out of the woods, but at least it is a step in the right direction.  Here is the latest picture:

What a mug shot! However, you can see that his right eye looks smaller than his left.  He is still squinting, but at least it is open much wider than it was.  He received his first drops on Wednesday.  The Twins turn 11 months old today.  Brody is weighing in at 65 pounds, while Muffy is 60 pounds.  If his eye is back to normal, Brody will be in the ring next Friday.  If not, he will be sitting this show out.

As always, your comments are important to me..and I am so sorry that I am so far behind in responding back to you.  Hopefully I will be able to get all caught up by Sunday.  I still have two PPA cards to complete before I leave, and my posts to write-up.  Which leads me to a question…Is it difficult to fly with a lap top?  The TSA site made it look like it is a hassle.  Since I will be by myself, and carrying my luggage on, I don’t want to be burdened with a lot of  extra stuff, nor do I want to have to go through extra steps passing through security.  So…what do you experienced fliers think?  Until next time…

The PPA Has the Summertime Blues

It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts!  The Pals have the Summertime Blues…and your creations are the cure! All you have to do is create a card or other project using Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist and Bashful Blue! This week we welcome my Paper Players comrade, Lesley Croghan, as our Celebrity Designer.  So please make certain that you check out the Design Team’s samples!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Delightful Details
  • Emboss resist with a colorful twist!  The “Chair” image from Cherish Friendship was stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  A Stampin’ Sponge was then inked with Bashful Blue and applied over the top of the embossed image using a circular motion.  When this did not photograph well, Not Quite Navy was applied over the top of the Bashful Blue.

  • Flower power! The Blossom Petals Builder Punch was used to punch “medium” petals out of Marina Mist card stock.  These petals were then distressed on the edges with Soft Suede ink, spritzed with Stampin’ Mist, crumpled, and straightened.  In keeping with the monochromatic theme, “leaves” were punched from Not Quite Navy.   A Bashful Blue Lace Ribbon medallion bedecks the middle of the flower.
  • Doily delight! Bashful Blue card stock was punched using the  Lace Ribbon Border Punch.  Small Boho Blossoms were added to the center of each medallion, and embellished with a Basic Pearl.
  • Pearly Pennant! The “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Curly Cute was inked with Not Quite Navy and stamped onto Whisper White.  The ends were “flagged” and accented with Basic Pearls.
If you would like to receive this card so that you can see it up close and personal, just leave me a comment.  I will randomly select one person to receive this card from all of the comments which were left on yesterday’s and today’s posts.  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  Of course, if you ever have questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…
