The Twins Say Good-by to Their Favorite Sets

In one week, the 2011 – 2012 Idea Book and Catalog will be old news, as the new catalog will go “live” June 1st.  On this hot, Iowa afternoon, the Twins sat down to take a look at the old catalog and some of the retiring sets.

Muffy:  Hey, Brody! Mom left her old catalog here on the floor where we can look at it.  She spends so much time looking at her catalog, I wonder what’s so cool about it.
Brody:  Oh, Muffy! This time I know the answer.  It has cats in it.  That’s why they call it a “catalog”!
Muffy:  No it doesn’t.
Brody:  Does too! Just look!

Muffy:  Oh. My. Goodness.  It does have cats in it.  And dog stamps, too!  Here is one that looks like a black lab.
Brody:  And this one on the page that I’m pointing at looks like a Scottie…or maybe a Vestie.
Muffy:  I think you mean Westie!
Brody:  No, I meant Vestie!  I have an accent.
Muffy:  No you don’t.  You are from Iowa…what kind of accent do you think you have?
Brody:  German. My “auntsisters” came from Germany.
Muffy:  That was like a hundred years ago…and it’s “ancestors”.
Brody:  That’s what I said…”auntsisters”.
Muffy:  Whatever.  I am heading to the ‘puter to see if Mom has any pictures of cards made with these sets.  Hurry before she catches us.  Ooops, here she is!
Me:  Twins…what are you two up to?  Are you being good?
Brody:  Yep.  We were just looking at the “catalog”.  Do you have any pictures of cards made with these doggies and kitties?
Me:  Why yes I do.  Let me pull them up for you!

Me:  This is one of my favorites made with the Friends Fur-ever set (W 117008, C 120504).  I even put a pearl on it.
Brody:  I like it too, Mom.  I LOVE fire hydrants.  And I had a pearl on my butt once.

Me:  And on this one I used the Not So Seriously set (W 123085, C 123087).
Muffy:  I LOVE this one Mom.  It reminds me of all of the BLUE ribbons I win.  Of course, Brody wouldn’t know anything about blue ribbons…
Me:  MUFFY LIN, stop picking on your brother.  Here is one I made a long time ago for Missy the Boxer.  It used the D is for Dog set (W 115784).

Muffy and Brody:  She’s at the Rainbow Bridge now Momma, where she has all of the toyz and treats she could ever want.
Brody:  Did you make one with the kitty stamp?  I love kitties.  Can we have a kitty, Momma?
Me:  Here is one made with C is for Cat (W 115764).

Brody:  What is going to happen to these stamp sets, Momma?
Muffy:  Don’t you ever read Mom’s blog posts, Brody?  They will only be available until May 31st.  So if people do not have them, they need to hurry and place an order.  Then it is new catalog time.

Brody:  And what if people don’t have a new catalog?
Muffy:  They can always get one FREE from Mom!  But they better hurry and email her if they want to get one before June 1st.  She has several more boxes of them ready to give away.
Brody:  Hey…do we get to tear up the boxes again?
Muffy:  That’s what we do best! We are, after all, BOXERS!

I hope you enjoyed today’s retrospective! As always, if you have questions, never hesitate to email me.  And if you do indeed need a catalog, and you don’t already have a current Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, just let me know.  As Muffy said, I have more just waiting to be sent out.  Until next time…

Saying Good-bye to…Uncharted Territory

Time is ticking away…and it won’t be long until the retiring stamp sets will be gone.  Over the next few days, we will be taking a look at some of the sets which will be leaving us.  Today’s focus will be on a classic set with images suitable for watercoloring or embossing…Uncharted Territory.  This set is suitable for masculine cards which can be clean and simple in design or even cards with a slightly vintage feel.

This card originally appeared on The Stampin’ Schach back on August 5, 2010.  Here are the tips as they appeared then:

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Vintage Masculine
The finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long.
  • “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay! I’m havin’ fun with my Big Shot today!” In a matter of minutes, I zipped More Mustard card stock through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For a little contrast, Marina Mist card stock was paired up with the Square Lattice folder!
  • Twine is fine! Whether you are looking for a distressed, country or masculine theme, Stampin’ Up!’s Hemp Twine does the trick. I just wrapped it around the Marina Mist section of the card and adhered it to the back. No bow…no woes! How easy is that?
  • Water color in the blink of an eye with Blender Pens and inks! Marina Mist seas, Cajun Craze cliffs, and a Cherry Cobbler with Basic Gray lighthouse complete this seascape!
  • Spritz! The Color Spritzer Tool is an indispensable part of my stampin’ routine, especially when paired with a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.
I hope you enjoyed a look back at this classic set. Remember, retiring stamp sets are only available until May 31st.  To see the rest of the retiring sets and accessories, please consult the links below.  Until next time…
