Market Fresh for Pals Paper Arts

IMG_2747It’s Thursday, and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! It’s a color challenge this week:  Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise.  At first, I was leaning toward something Halloween, but the Turquoise was throwing it off a wee bit.  I took a look in the catalog to see what Designer Papers had these colors in them.  I picked the Farmers Market paper, specifically the gorgeous gingham plaid pattern.  It wasn’t until the card was completed and I was writing my post that I realized the error of my ways.  Yikes!  This pattern paper is Blackberry Bliss.  But you know what? That’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up!  Everything coordinates so well!  At least the card stock I used is Rich Razzleberry, and so is the ink I used to watercolor the grapes. At any rate, I hope you enjoy my mistake!

  • Great grapes! There is something about the Market Fresh stamp set that caught my eye when I saw it in the new Annual Catalog.  Maybe it is my love of water coloring which makes this set so appealing.  The images are perfect for faux water coloring, using Blender Pens and inks.  It was stamped with new Archival Basic Black ink (in the new Holiday Catalog).  I LOVE this ink.  The image was crisp and clean, and it worked perfectly with Blender Pens.  There was no smearing at all. I can’t wait for you to try it!

  • Bump it up! One way to add depth is to snip out the banner and bump it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  It is so easy to snip out,  but what a difference this makes!

  • Layered ribbons!  Pear Pizzazz ribbon is layered over the new Rich Razzleberry Into the Woods 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon. What fabulous texture this ribbon has! Although you only see a snippet of it, it definitely adds to the card.

  • Layered labels! The new Lots of Labels Framelits are perfect for layering. The Very Vanilla and Pear Pizzazz labels are the same size. The Pear Pizzazz one was simply cut in half!

Delicate Ornaments for The Paper Players…A Peek from the Holiday Catalog

IMG_2726

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week,  Claire is treating us to a fun color challenge: Bermuda Bay, Kraft/Crumb Cake, Old Olive. I just had to play with some of the items from the new Holiday Catalog…even if it did mean making a Christmas card using non-traditional colors.  I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4 inches wide x 5-1/2″ long when folded.

  • The dies have it! Creating beautiful die cuts is simple with Delicate Ornaments Thinlits dies.  Cut from Gold Foil and overlayed onto Bermuda Bay, this ornament sports Pearls, a Gold Cord bow, and a gorgeous Winter Wonderland embellishment.

  • Sentimental! The sentiment Merry & Bright is from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set.  I love this set because all the words are separate…allowing you to make countless combinations!  You can even make the phrase “Have a holly, jolly Christmas”! I just love this old Burl Ive’s tune, don’t you?

  • I’ve got this! One of my favorite backgrounds is created with the stamp from You’ve Got This.  This time I inked it with Old Olive and stamped off twice before stamping it onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  A few Crumb Cake speckles are courtesy of Gorgeous Grunge.

I had a blast inking up these new sets and using new embellishments!  The new Precision Cutting Plate does make cutting out intricate dies, like the one I used today, easier.  I really can’t wait to play again with the Embellished Ornament set and the coordinating Delicate Ornaments dies.  In fact, I would LOVE to play with everything in the new Holiday Catalog!  But that will have to wait for another day, since Lexi and I are in Albert Lea, MN.  As always, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

What’s Happening at…

Banner

We have another dog show weekend heading our way!  On August 7, 8, and 9th, Lexi and I will be in Albert Lea, MN.  Last weekend in Marion, IL, we picked up 6 more points toward our Grand Champion title.  We now need 12.  This weekend we are up against a very competitive line-up, including the #10 Boxer girl in the nation.  I hope we don’t walk away empty-handed.  Although this picture is a little blurry, here is little Lexi standing for the judge on Sunday.
