On the CASE: Beautiful Bouquet Sentiment

One of the things I love about the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set is the wonderful selection of sentiments.  The sentiment, “I couldn’t have picked a better friend than you”, was absolutely perfect for a card I needed to make.  What better card to CASE than this gorgeous Tranquil Tide beauty!  What a wonderful card to send out to special friends after the holiday to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated.  I hope you will give this card a try!

Your Step-by-Step Guide

On the CASE: Beautiful Bouquet Sentiment

1.  Score the Tranquil Tide cardstock at 5-1/2″ to form the card base.

2. Emboss the front of the card using the Oh My Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

3.  Using SNAIL adhesive, attach the paper doily to the Vellum cardstock.  Adhere this to the card front, placing the SNAIL under the doily so it is hidden from view.

4.  Selectively ink the sentiment using a Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write marker.  Stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

How Hard Was It to Crack This CASE

If you love fussy cutting like I do, this card is a breeze.  There is selective inking involved.  Just make sure to position the die cut, and clean and dry your stamp before continuing with the final two words. Difficulty Level:  3 out of 5

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt

It’s time for the Stamp Review Crew: Christmas Quilt edition! If this is your very first visit to one of our hops, The Stamp Review Crew is a group of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set used in a variety of ways, giving you loads of inspiration for that set! The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog. You will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want! This week we are featuring the Christmas Quilt stamp set. I am Stop #1 on the hop. You may have arrived from Mickey Roberts. Isn’t she fabulous? I love her creations. After visiting me, you will continue to the next stop, the incomparable Heidi Baks!  Heidi is one of my stampin’ heroes.  As always, she has rocked this set! You will love what she has in store for us! Enjoy this week’s hop!

Matchbook Sewing Kit

I come from a long line of quilters.  One of my earliest memories of my Grandma Nellie was of her quilting.  She had a quilting frame set up in her dining room.  Along with ladies from church,  she would spend the afternoons quilting.  Grandma made each of her grandchildren a quilt, and although she passed away before mine was quilted, my mother lovingly quilted it for me.  Both of them were impeccable quilters, proud of the tiny uniform stitches that were the hallmark of their work. Unfortunately, the quilting gene skipped a generation.  Neither my sister nor I are quilters. But my niece recently picked up the craft, and is an award winning quilter.  As for me,  I’ll have to do my quilting on paper.  I hope you enjoy today’s hop.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

To create the matchbook, I began with a piece of 4-1/4″ x 11″ Real Red cardstock, scored at 1-1/2″,  6-1/2″ and 6-3/4″.  The bottom flap was folded up and stapled in place.  A 1-1/2″ by 4-1/4″ piece of Quilted Christmas Designer Paper was adhered to this section, while a 4-1/8″ tall by 4-1/4″ wide piece of designer paper was adhered to the front.  The Quilt Builders Framelit Dies were used to create the Real Red die cut and the Garden Green piece under it.Stamp Review Crew Christmas QuiltThe star on top was snipped from one of the patterns in the Quilted Christmas Designer Stack,

while a stitched felt embellishment adorns the bottom flap.  Isn’t the little die cut needle adorable?

Designer paper adorns the inside of the matchbook.  This the same pattern as is on the front.

A piece of red felt forms the base to hold emergency sewing essentials.  Glue dots securely hold buttons and a needle threader in place, while mini-scissors and thread are “sewn” in with bakers twine.

Stamp Review Crew Christmas QuiltSadly this set and coordinating framelits are retiring.  But, there is still time to order them before we have to say good-by.   I hope you enjoyed today’s little stocking stuffer.  Won’t you let me know in your comment?  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Now hop along to Heidi Baks to see what she has in store for you!  If you get lost along the way, you can find a list of all the hoppers at The Stamp Review Crew.
