It’s A Celebration – Paper Players 400th Challenge

Watercolored Celebration CardCan you believe it?  The Paper Players are celebrating their 400th challenge! As a former Design Team member, I am so proud to have been asked to create a card this week.  What better way to celebrate than with a watercolored platypus! I hope you enjoy today’s card!

Doesn’t this adorable little platypus, from the new Postcard Pals stamp set, look like he’s inviting everyone to celebrate? Stampin’ Blend markers were used to color everything except the blue shadow around him. For that, I used Balmy Blue ink and a Blender Pen.

And speaking of celebrating, the sentiment from the Perennial Birthday set seemed perfect for this week’s challenge.

watercolored celebration cardKeeping with the celebration theme, I added a single balloon, punched from Mango Melody Designer Paper and held in place with a Blackberry Bliss Nature’s Twine string.

watercolored celebration cardA watercolored platypus is not the only watercolored card I have made for The Paper Players.  Eight years ago, for the very first Paper Players challenge, I created this card, which was selected as the very first Headliner. Check out the Winners Post here.

watercolored celebration cardYep, the Paper Players will always hold a special place in my heart.  So come on…won’t you celebrate with us? This very special challenge will run for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to get inky. It’s time to play with The Paper Players!!!

FF0011 Ice Cream Day Card

easy Ice cream day card
I scream, you scream, we all scream  for ice cream! It’s time for the Festive Friday Challenge, where every challenge is a party! For FF0011, we are celebrating  Ice Cream Day with a Sprinkles twist. You can create a card to celebrate Ice Cream Day, or you can create a card or project with sprinkles,  or you can combine both! Whatever way you decide to create is fine with us! We would love to have you play along!  Who doesn’t want to celebrate Ice Cream Day?

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Necessity is the mother of invention, as they say, and so it was with today’s card. With my huge retired stamp set sale going on, I had already said good-by to my “ice creamy” sets.  So as I browsed through the catalog in a panic, I stumbled across the Coffee Café stamp set.  Doesn’t that whipped cream remind you of Dairy Queen? It did me! So I created a little cup of vanilla … or maybe even lemon…ice cream.

The oval Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper panel was the perfect overlay for the  Pool Party polka dot paper.

Of course, we needed a celebratory sentiment, like this one from the Detailed with Love stamp set.

Can’t you just see this layout used for other cards? Instead of a cup of ice cream, just substitute a wedding cake or a birthday cake, and there you have it – an easy wedding or birthday card.  I hope you enjoyed today’s card as much as I enjoyed making it!

The Challenge Twists

As mentioned earlier, Festive Friday is a challenge with twists.  If you do not wish to create an Ice Cream Day project, you could create a “sprinkles” card or project.  We offer alternatives for every challenge.  Plus, if you play along with us, you will be earning Fest Points which can be redeemed for items such as tutorials (including the tutorial for today’s card), retired Stampin’ Up! products, design team cards, and even a spot as a Guest Designer! But remember:  To earn Fest Points, you need an account on the challenge site. Just click on login/register on the challenge site to get started.

To see all of the inspiration our Design Team has created for you, head on over to Festive Friday Challenges!

Would you like to create your own card?  If you enjoyed today’s card, and would like to create your own easy ice cream card,  the supply list is located below.  Clicking on a product takes you right to my store.  Be sure to use this month’s Host Code.  Online orders over $50 (before tax and shipping) will receive a little gift from me IF you use the Host Code.  If your order is $150 or more, please do not use the Host Code.  You will automatically receive the gift from me, as well as your own Host Rewards.
