It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely Claire has a Clean and Simple challenge that is so appropriate: Snowy Day!
What can I say? I’m looking at 7 inches of snow that fell late Friday evening into early Saturday. This is atop the 10+ inches we had last weekend. So yep…we have a snowy day, and it’s a perfect time to stay in and stamp! I hope you enjoy my attempt at a clean and simple snow card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Clean and Simple cards are always difficult for me. I’m more of a Dirty and Layered type of stamper…and this card was no exception. Here was my first attempt:
Two icy trees and a snow laden evergreen were cut from Sparkle Glimmer paper, as well as two billowy snow drifts. The little bird is from the Sitting Pretty set. I made him a cardinal. Believe it or not, when I was growing up, the cardinal was my elementary school’s mascot. The sentiment is from the retired Alpine Adventure stamp set.
However, this card just didn’t seem right. The sentiment “dirtied” my snow. The bird looked like it was floating on the surface of the tree. And those icy trees, which are usually gorgeous, were misplaced. So I followed MY number one rule of making Clean and Simple cards: When I think I’m finished, I start removing items. The first to come off was the sentiment. Then the tree on the right. But since that left me with an even number of trees, (I prefer odds), I removed the other one. And if that wasn’t enough, I cut off the legs of the bird. I know that sounds mean, but I nestled him in the branches of the evergreen so he could safely recuperate.
When it was all said and done, I ended up with a card which I think is much cleaner, and definitely simpler. I can’t wait to create a few more of these. Hmm…could I have already found my holiday card for 2019?
