Christmas In June PP790

Every year I tell myself, “Ann, you really should get started on your holiday cards so you not rushing around in December.” Well, this week I did get my first holiday card of the year made. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Christmas in June PP790

This week the amazing Christy is hosting our color challenge. What a fun quartet of colors she has for us! I couldn’t decide whether to go my usual floral route or maybe do something fun and summery. But the more I looked at these colors, the more I was getting a mid-century, retro vibe which I felt paired nicely with the ornaments in Stampin’ Up!’s soon-to-be released July Online Exclusive, the Festive Cheer bundle. I can’t wait to see how YOU use this week’s colors. But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible Design Teammates, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The Festive Cheer bundle is aptly named – it IS festive! With fun ornaments and fabulous dies, it is a versatile holiday set. It could go elegant in traditional colors or carefree and whimsical by choosing colors that are outside of the box. Stamping these retro-style ornaments was a breeze using the Stampin’ Positioner. First, the outline was stamped using Basic Black Hybrid ink. Next, color was added in Strawberry Slush, Gorgeous Grape, and Coastal Cabana. The hangers and decorative bow were die cut from silver foil. Since I had to add Lemon Lime Twist to the mix, I die cut pine boughs from it and decorated them with Coastal Cabana Shimmering Dots. Rhinestones were used to add bling to the ornaments. You know me and bling! A Gorgeous Grape sentiment adds to the fun. Also making its appearance in July is the Swirls of Magic embossing folder. Although it is marketed as part of the Frightfully Fun Suite, it works for wintery cards, too. It makes the perfect backdrop for the ornaments on this whimsical card.

  1. I love that you went with a Christmas card for these colors, I love that kind of out-of-the-box thinking! These colors look amazing with your mid-century modern ornaments. That is exactly my SIL’s design aesthetic, I love it. Thanks for making my colors look so fabulous and I hope you have a wonderful week!

  2. I like it. Good on you for getting started in Jun, I need to do the same BUT we’ll see if I can actually start in August 🤣
Love the embossing plate, think I’m going to need one of those in my collection.
Of course bling is perfect 🙂
Kudos to each one getting us to get started

  3. Very cute & whimsical card, Ann! I love the colors & you used them perfectly! I can’t even think about Christmas during the summer in Florida…it’s too hot!

  4. Well first of all, the color combination in this card is spectacular. Nice embossing folder and the delicate Christmas ornaments are great, but the teeny tiny ornament hangers is very intriguing. I know you said you made it with silver foil, but wow, that looks like a feat. Wonderful card. Thanks for sharing.
