It’s often said that strawberries are the candy of the fruit world. If that’s the case, would sending this bowl of strawberries card be like sending a box of chocolates to someone you know? It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players.
This week the beautiful Claire is hosting our monthly Clean and Simple challenge with the theme of “Fruit”. I felt a bowl of sweet, juicy strawberries would be perfect for my card. I can’t wait to see what fruit YOU use! But remember, this is a CLEAN and SIMPLE challenge. Before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, keep in mind that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:
Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Sometimes thinking outside of the box has unexpected benefits. I am not necessarily a creative thinker, so my hat is off to the person who first used the ice cream cone die from the Ice Cream Swirl die collection to create a bowl. It was genius! My Clean and Simple cards are not always the cleanest and simplest. I am a “Layered Lady” for sure. However, for my version of Clean and Simple, I love framing an image and leaving lots of white around it. An embossed background makes for yummy texture and looks cleaner than designer series paper. And a trio of rhinestones? It’s minimalistic for me! While I left the inside blank, there are lots of handwritten or typed sentiments which would be perfect, depending on the occasion. How about, “I love you berry much”? Or maybe “Life is short. Make it sweet.”? I personally like, “Listen to the strawberries. Soak up the sun. Let your ideas ripen. Jam to your own beat.”

A fantastic burst of summer goodness, Ann. Delightful berries and such a sweet card. Cheer, Jolanda
Ann, I love your overflowing bowl/basket of strawberries and all that fabulous texture behind them. I also love that you kept the colors to red and yellow to really highlight your focal image.
hugs

These strawberries look good enough to eat! LOVE the bowl/cone idea! Luscious summer colors are yummy too!
Such a sweet and cheerful card.
How is Sixx doing?
Strawberries are my favourite and I’d sure rather have them than chocolates. Yours look good enough to eat. I like the brightness of the lemon background too – it’s like a sprinkling of sunshine to go with the fruit.:-)
There is nothing better than a bowl of fresh strawberries and yours are delightful, Ann! I do appreciate the clever bowl design and the bright yellow background. Everything says summer. And can you believe my husband found a beautiful, ripe strawberry on one of our plants a few days ago? We couldn’t, as our season has been over for many, many weeks. A lovely treat, just like your card!
Growing up in the 1950-60s in Western Oregon, every kid picked strawberries in the early summer to earn money for school clothes. We made 25¢ a carrier (six boxes/about 2 lb of berries) and it was the highlight of our summer. Your card brings back all those memories…so fun!
These strawberries look yummy!!! They are my favorite when in season!!! Clever idea using the cone for a bowl.
I love your bright and cheerful bowl of strawberries! I was wondering where that bowl came from…crafty people are so clever, aren’t they?!
Ann…great bowl of strawberries. A bit retro… really like the image. Fun challenge theme!
Ann, I love, love, love this card. I adore red and yellow together. SO happy! Your card reminds me of my childhood. My Daddy grew strawberries and we would help pick them, but eat so many along the way, too! Nothing sweeter than strawberries in the summer! The embossing, scalloped die and rhinestones made your card so special! Thank you for making my challenge shine this week!
Fantastic and not a pearl in sight!
This is a sweet card!
