Summer Fun

There is no doubt that summer is upon us here in the heartland. And of course, with summer, comes summer fun! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Summer funIt’s Theme week, and our amazing hostess Claire has a timely one for us:  Summer Fun! With so many possibilities for this theme, I can’t wait to see what YOU create! And in case you missed Friday’s exciting Paper Players announcement, this week we are welcoming THREE members to the Design Team: Jan Clothier, Stef Perry and Elizabeth Stewart!  I am sure you will recognize their work from when they were Guest Designers and from their entries in the galleries. It is an honor to design alongside them. Welcome back, ladies!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

We can thank Good Boy Nueve for helping me find the inspiration for today’s card. If it were not for his insistence that we go on a walk, I would not have passed the playground to have my “aha” moment.  It is always so much fun to watch the little ones absorbed in their summer fun. It reminds me of when my son Brady and I would head to the playground so he could swing on the swing and slide down the slide. Cards can evoke the most wonderful memories.

Patterns from the retired designer series paper collection, Just Kiddin’, do all of the work here. I fussy cut out the adorable images and arranged them on the slide paper. The sentiment is from the Playing In The Rain stamp set. Inked in Night of Navy and stamped onto Fresh Freesia paper, it was a perfect choice. I know not everyone will have this retired paper in their arsenal, and I felt guilty using it because of that reason. But there are lessons to be learned here, says the old teacher: a) Sometimes finding your inspiration can be as easy as walking the dog; b) Always be on the lookout for versatile paper collections to add to your stable of “paper workhorses”; and c) Never shy away from using products that stir your passion and evoke memories, even if they are “last year’s news”. Stamping should always come from YOUR heart!

Those kids are adorable and who doesn’t like a good slide and tire swing. Love this!

  2. Ann, I’m just thrilled that we’ll be creating together again! You’ve made such a charming card with that wonderful scene. It sure made me smile and reminisce about not only my daughter but also my grands who are all adults now. I adore your card and appreciate your advice about being open to inspiration all around us!

  3. I am so glad you used this paper Ann – it’s a favorite of mine and I stocked up for future use, so never fear I’ll still be using it too! This little scene is wonderfully reminiscent of summer days spent with my kids at the park when they were little too – small pleasures!

  4. Ah! Sometimes, don’t you just wish you could go back to those endless summer days, playing at the park and just delighting in the day? Your card just makes those memories real again. 🙂 Thank you for the welcome to the team. I’m looking forward to the future challenges with you all.

Good for you, using up some of your retired stash to create this adorable little scene! I have fond memories of sliding down a slide in our own backyard!

BIG SMILE!!!! I love this card! We had a swing set in our yard growing up. Countless hours were spend on that play set. These little cuties are just precious! Such a creative idea. Glad Nueve took you on a walk! You certainly made my challenge shine! Thank you!
