Adventure Awaits

For many people, August marks the last month to engage in a variety of activities before summer officially ends in September. Adventure awaits! So what are you waiting for? It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Adventure Awaits

This week the fabulous Claire is hosting our theme challenge:  Hot Fun in the Summertime! How timely is this? I know I would love to be on a remote beach somewhere, watching the sun settle below the horizon. How about you? I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

For today’s card, I decided to engage in a little water coloring using water painters and ink.  The sand was created with Crumb Cake ink, with Crumb Cake details added using stamps from the Oceanfront set.  For the sky I used Calypso Coral ink.  For the water, I inked up the image from the retired Let’s Set Sail stamp set with Lost Lagoon ink, simply because I liked the texture it imparted. However, if you do not have this retired set, you can definitely use a water painter. The setting sun dips below the horizon courtesy of a slit cut into the water-colored panel.  Gray Granite rocks and Pretty Peacock grass, along with a couple of Festive Pearls, add interest to the beach.  Once again, I used the retired Let’s Set Sail set for the perfect sentiment.

Nueve’s Notes

Hey, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! I didn’t get to talk with you last week ’cause I was busy playing show dog with Michelle in Oh-Hi-Oh. She came home from It-Lee and was happy to see me. I was happy to see her, too.  I gave her lots of kisses.  While we were in the show ring, a nice lady named Roxanne took a videeoh of all of us show dogs being judged.  I wanted to show you what I do in the show ring when I play show dog.  Mom didn’t take any pictures of me ’cause she was too busy holding her breath. She was afraid I would mess up.  I asked her if she could take pictures from the videeoh. She tried, but some of them were blurry. But you can still see me. I’m the handsomest one. First, the judge has all of the champion Boxers, plus the Winners Dog (the best boy from the non-champion boys who were entered) and the Winners Girl (the best girl from the non-champion girls who were entered) come into the ring. We are supposed to stand and look pretty.  I am the third one. The judge is looking at me. That’s always a good thing.

Then the judge examines each one of us.  She touches us all over and looks at our teeth. Here she is walking up to touch me.

Then we have to move for her so she can see how pretty we look when we move. Everyone says I am a good mover. First, we have to do what is called a down and back. This way she sees how we look moving from the front and from the rear.

adventure awaits

Then we do what is called a “go around” where she can see how we look moving from the side.

adventure awaits

After each one of us has been touched and after we have moved, we all line back up and look pretty again.  This picture is really blurry, but you can see that the judge is looking at me, and Michelle is looking at the judge.  Michelle does that so she can see if the judge is going to pick me as Best of Breed.

adventure awaits

She did pick me! When that happens we go to the other side of the ring and stand. I get to be first in line.  Next comes the Best of Winners, which is the best non-champion, then it is the Best of Opposite.  Because I am a boy, the Best of Opposite is a girl. Next would be the Select Male and then Select Female.

Adventure Awaits

I love playing show dog! Michelle makes it so much fun. She likes playing show dog, too. It makes her smile.

Adventure Awaits

Yep, playing with my friends and making them smile is just one of my jobs. I’m a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!
