A Birthday on the Horizon

Does someone you know have a birthday on the horizon?  April is a huge birthday month for me, and I needed several cards for friends and family.   If you are like me and need a lot of cards, this design might be right up your alley.  It’s time to play at Festive Friday – Home of the Inspo List!

birthday on the horizon

For this week’s challenge, we are inspired by World Art Day. Remember, at Festive Friday you do not need to actually celebrate or make a card for the occasion featured. Your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. I used watercolor paper, landscape, and watercolor pencils to create my card. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The gorgeous New Horizons designer series paper forms the backdrop for today’s card.   It’s easy to step it up with die cuts created with Horizon dies and a variety of embellishments, like flowers, butterflies and pebbles.  It truly is an easy card to create.   And in keeping with the theme of World Art Day,  it is reminiscent of a plein air painting. This is one card I can’t wait to send out.

Notes from Nueve

Hi, everyone! I have nub-waggin’ news.  Sixxy and I passed our echocardiograms.  Sunday, we got to see Dr. Heidi the Cardiologist.  Since she is a cardiologist, I think she makes cards, just like my Mom.  She was so kind, and told me I had a nice butt!  I never noticed before, but my butt does seem to glow.

I tried to lick her face to thank her, but she was too quick! Sixxy was faster, and licked her glasses.  When we got home, we wanted to share our good news with everyone.  I looked for the neighbors, but they weren’t to be found.

Sixxy looked for the neighbors, too, but she didn’t see them either.

Uncle Q, who is home visiting us for a week,  helped us look out the front window. But there were no neighbors anywhere to help us celebrate.

Mom said it was OK .  She said what’s important is that we can be happy for ourselves and by ourselves.   So I celebrated by myself a lot. I ran in the yard. I chewed chews. I ate the cheeseburger Mom and Dad bought for each of us. I worked really hard at celebrating my healthy heart. After all,  working hard is what I do.  I’m a working dog.  I am Good Boy Nueve!

  2. Ann, that is such a lovely card. A Bob Ross card, done in beautiful layers.
Nueve; love hearing from ou again; your glowing butt and all. Now, Shake, Shake, that Booty.

We got up to 95 deg. the other day and received an inch of rain the other night when the storms went through. Rain in forecast for sometime today but hopefully rain will hold off, at least until I get my potatoes planted
    Take care & stay safe
Much love to your sweet babies

  3. Melanie Hungerford

Happy and healthy dogs, beautiful card with the perfect accents to highlight that paper, what a great post!

  4. That DSP is quite gorgeous. It barely needs any embellishment to create a gorgeous card. I love the fence and flower die cuts that give it some dimension, and the splash of hot pink are the perfect touch.

  5. You are precious Nueve, all of you are. Tell your mom her card is nice too.

  6. Love all the little details you added to step up this card Ann and really bring that paper to life. Beautiful! Great news on those handsome pups too!

  7. Beautiful card! Love the splash of Polished Pink. Happy to hear that the test results were good!

  8. You were able to capture the beauty of that New Horizons DSP so well! I’m relying on you these days to determine what I should get from the catalog, as you have quite the eye for design and impact. Love to the dog children from my cat children, Eleanor (Queen of Norway), General Catton and Butterscotch.

  9. And yes we are all celebrating with you with the glowing report! You and your babies – what a team! So happy everybody checks out! Way to go!

  10. Sharon Broussard

Beautiful Card! Let Nueve and Sixx know that we are celebrating their good news in Georgia for them! I just love seeing the dog news! My hubby enjoys their stories too!!

  11. Love your New Horizon card! I broke down and bought the paper after not sure if I really liked it or not. Saw too many cards that were using it and decided I had to have it.

Good Boy Nueve always writes such great stories and brings a smile to my face every time. Give him a hug. 🙂

  12. Love the card and the update and doctor’s report. It made me chuckle and smile today. Thanks I needed that!

  13. Another Beautiful Card Ann. I love all your stories of your Dogs. They are amazing.

  14. What a beautiful card Ann! Love that splash of pink!

  15. Hi Nueve!!! You look so handsome!!! Dr. Heidi is right you have a nice butt — ha!ha!ha! Sixxix looks great, also, and Uncle Q looks so big. Dr. Heidi does not make cards like your mom — your mom does beautiful cards — Dr. Heidi writes cards where she jots down the results of your heart exams. You did celebrate!!!!

  16. Bonnielee McGuire

So beautiful, cards and dogs! Mr. Glowing Butt really knows how to rock it. Thanks for sharing!!
