Wow! It’s hard to believe I missed the last two Paper Players challenges due to PUPPIES!!! It feels good to once again say…it’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week the ever-so-talented Nance has a fun Clean and Simple Watercolor challenge for us. I pulled out the aqua painters, watercolor paper, and my favorite set from the Occasions Catalog, Butterfly Basics, and created this quick and easy card. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This completed card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long when folded.
- Watercolor! The image was stamped in VersaMark onto watercolor paper and heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The blossoms were watercolored with Aqua Painters and Daffodil Delight ink, followed with Tangelo Twist ink. The leaves were colored with Aqua Painters and Always Artichoke ink. The blue background is simply a wash of Soft Sky.
- Grunge! A few Tuxedo Black speckles were added using the Speckles image from Gorgeous Grunge.
- Bow! A triple bow, created from Tangelo Twist Stitched Satin Ribbon adds a splash of color!
A person never realizes how much they miss something until it’s gone…and that’s how it was with my stamping. These past few weeks have been a labor of love, but it felt great to ink up the stamps. My husband, Kim, took up residence in the “pup-artment” and puppy-sat while I created. Of course, when I looked in on him, he was holding Cash, who was sleeping soundly in his arms. I am sure the pups will be completely pre-spoiled when they head off to their new homes.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I find it fun to watercolor. I purposely left off the sentiment, so I can use it for a variety of occasions. I can just stamp an appropriate sentiment inside when needed. What about you? Do you add the sentiment later? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? You comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. I have especially enjoyed your comments about the babies. As always, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Gorgeous card, Ann! I love the detail in the watercoloring and the perfect pearl details. So pretty! 🙂
This is a card that is simple in it’s simplicity – you’ve done so many wonderful things with this stamp set Ann, and this card is no exception! I love the bold colouring on the flowers to match that bright orange ribbon, and the scattering of your signature pearls. Welcome back from your break 🙂
Love your card and most of all love that you heat embossed the flower stem…love the look and feel of heat embossing! LOVELY water coloring and of course the pearls! Glad to see your stamping again though loved all of the Muffy and muffins time and pictures…pls keep them coming!
Ann, it is great to see your card this week! The soft wash of color is just fabulous! I love your bow and of course the pearls are perfect! XX
Ann this is beautiful! What a perfect image for this challenge, and I love your fabulous bow!
Beautiful card; love the color choices. Unless I’m making a card for a specific occasion, I leave the sentiment off also. Never know when you’ll need an “emergency” card.
So pretty! I adore that ribbon, just a beautiful accent!
Gorgeous card Ann. Such great coloring
That ribbon goes so well with the card and love the added pearls.
Thanks for sharing the cute photos of your sweet baby muffins. They are so adorable.
Beautiful CAS card! The soft wash of color in the background is the perfect touch.
Welcome back to stamping land! Beautiful watercoloring. Butterfly Basics is also my favorite stamp set from the Occasions Catalog. I mostly add a sentiment when making a card, but sometimes I wait and add it when I need a card for an occasion.
Gorgeous creation, Ann! Don’t know how you found time to stamp with your wee ones around! Just beautiful!
Hi MsAnn, welcome back, we missed you , but it was fun reading about the baby’s , we wouldn’t have any other way !! Lol!!
Your card is beautiful love how you water painted, and oh yes I love to leave them with out stamping a sentiment, it’s so easy when my girls come over and say Mom I need a thank you card , do you have any ?? That’s when it comes in handy ! Right ???
Glad I’m not the only one , lol,
Hope your well rested , love to see more pic of the baby’s , and the mommie too,
Have a beautiful Sunday,
Hugs Frenchie,
I love that stamp set too. I haven’t done any watercoloring with inks. The card is very pretty. How nice that Kim is so involved with the puppies too. It will be hard for you to see them move on to new homes. I know I’d be way too attached. Good to have you back making a card!
Gorgeous card! I love everything about it and that bow just takes it over the top! I rarely, if ever, work ahead to answer the question about the sentiments. I must learn to at least make a few ahead so I am all set when I remember to flip over my annual calendar thing. Did you get a photo of Kim and Cash?
Not this time, Chris! But I do have other pictures of the two of them 🙂
Even though you call this card “clean and simple”, it still has your elegant style all over it. Beautiful! I’m enjoying reading about the puppies – It took my Chihuahuas *months* to reach the 2 pound mark! Are they already spoken for? Are you planning on keeping one or more? Just curious.
I will be keeping one, Vicki, but I don’t know who. It will be a tough decision!
I am so glad you are back at your craft table as well, Ann! Your card is stunning – as they all are.
Can you do a tutorial on how to do the triple bow? It’s gorgeous with that ribbon! Beautiful card!!!
Thanks for the sweet comment 🙂
Here is a tutorial on how to make a double bow: https://youtu.be/u0meG2bIWEI To make the triple bow, just wrap the ribbon round one more time 🙂
Ann – this is lovely!! I love the watercoloring using the embossing – I always forget to do that, but won’t now since it’s so fresh on my mind! I hope to play along this week – time has just gotten away from me and I’ve missed stamping.
I just caught up on your blog and saw all the puppy news – so very exciting, happy and exhausting! I’m so glad that all the pups and Muffy are doing well. The pups will be well loved and spoiled for their new families.
What a lovely card, I just love the look you achieved with the water color wash in the background and, of course, the pearls look so very sweet scattered like that.
Water color is right up my alley so, this is a wonderful challenge, I’m going to see what I can come up with.
Thank you for sharing, kiss those puppies and squeeze them just a bit for me.
You are such an amazing inspiration! Beautiful work!
Beautiful card, Ann! I love how you achieved such strong color with water and the soft sky wash is just lovely. So glad you have you back!
Your card is just lovely! I am very impressed with your bow making skills. I think I need a class in bow making.
Hi again,
I forgot to tell you I really like the card and I have not thought about embossing on Watercolor paper. hmmmm I will try this.
Diana
Good Sunday Morning Ann,Kim, Muffy and babies
I wait to stamp a sentiment much of the time for the same reason.
Diana
Beautiful! And the pearls are perfection!
Beautiful Ann, so soft and pretty! Yes, I like to leave off the sentiment until later sometimes too. When I’m working ahead, that is. When life is crazy, it really helps to be able to pull out a card and add what you need for the occasion and run! So glad you are getting back in the swing and stamping again. I love that feeling of coming back to this wonderful hobby of ours, makes me joyful!
The pups are such a joy to see and hear about. A true labor of love indeed, but what an experience! So happy for you that they are all growing and healthy. ; ) I showed both my kids their updates and they were thrilled! Have a lovely Sunday.
Great card. I love watercoloring and you have a lovely hand for doing it. I rarely put sentiments on my card fronts. I usually wait and put whatever sentiment I want to use for the occasion on the inside. Sometimes though, I will use one word on the card front – usually when I need to fill up some space.
Love the card – beautiful. Welcome back – laughing. I am sure that time is allowing you a few minutes away from all the little muffins. Awwww that is so cute about the husband taking over while you got to play. So precious. Have a super day!
It’s so fun to see the puppies growing! What a lot of fun and work and excitement for you. I’m glad everyone is OK. The coloring on this card is wonderful! I love the look of watercolor…so this one is right up my alley!
Glad you’re back on board making your wonderful cards. Back adding pearls eh? Ha!
It’s great to be back! Of course, I just had to add a few pearls for old time’s sake!
