It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players! This week the wildly talented Joanne is hosting a Clean and Simple Challenge: Feathered Friends. All you need to do is create a Clean and Simple card featuring a bird. I inked up the Moon Lake stamp set for the first time, and had so much fun creating this clean and elegant card. I hope you enjoy it…and the Sadie/Faith update! The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- Diamonds and Pearls! One of my favorite backgrounds is created using the Diagonal Plate and the Simply Scored tool. I double scored the diagonals and added Pearls at the intersections. The result is elegant and feminine.
- Blender Pens and Inks! The Bird image was inked in Jet Black StazOn. It was then colored using Blender Pens and the following inks: Crumb Cake, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Suede, Soft Sky, Wisteria Wonder. Of course, a few Crumb Cake speckles, add a vintage touch.
- Border and Bow! A double Very Vanilla satin bow looks perfect with the Doily border. This border is one of the two Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.
By keeping the colors light and delicate, and by adding elegant details, this Moon Lake image makes a beautiful, feminine card.
And now for the Sadie-Faith update! Sadie is recuperating at her foster home after her operation. Her foster mom says Sadie is “eating like a horse and is a total snuggler”. She sent me two pictures, one of her resting on the couch, and the second one of her sutures.
Just look at that ornery look in her eye! She looks like she is ready to spring into action at any minute! Isn’t she just adorable? It’s hard to keep a Boxer down!
Her incision…albeit long…looks great! Of course, she is receiving pain medication and antibiotics. Now my mission is to get her medical bills paid off. Of course, I will continue to keep you updated on her progress.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I have used this layout before. It’s a classic, don’t you think? Won’t you let me know what you think in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Love your card!!!! I went right past Moon Lake (more than once) as it’s just not me! However, I may be changing my mind.
Are you doing an SU party and donating your profits to Sadie/Faith? I have a demonstrator whom I love but I would definitely buy from you this time. Let me know if you are!!!
Ann this card is just gorgeous! I love the embossing and the neutral tones, and I totally forgot about the beautiful bird image in this stamp set. Such an elegant card!
Good Morning Ann,
I have seen this card.
Thank you so much for keeping us informed on Faith. It sounds like she will be up and having a great time soon. Will you be keeping a watchful eye on her new mommy and daddy or will you all know enough when that happens that she will be safe and a happy baby?

Your speckles are perfect! How did you do them? Sadie sure is lucky!!
Hi, Patti! I used the speckles stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. I inked it in Crumb Cake, and stamped off twice 🙂
You outdid yourself once again! Truly this card stands out – love it.
I am glad to hear Sadie is doing well.
I love your nature cards. And so glad to hear Sadie (Faith) is doing well. I will really be happy when she finds that forevr home.
What a stunning card! The embossing, the gorgeous die cut…the incredible coloring and then you topped it off with that scrumptious bow. Just fabulous, ann!
I SO look forward to your beautiful projects, Ann! I wish SU would consider making this diamond pattern into an embossing folder, it’s such an elegant look! This card is absolute perfection, makes my heart “fly”!
Sadie-Faith has captured an awful lot of hearts; God bless everyone involved in her recovery and happiness!
Just beautiful! love the scoring and pearls. Glad Faith is doing great. She certainly looks right at home.
1) Your card is fabulous, as always. Your diagonal background makes me swoon–and reminds me of the reason I need to get that diagonal plate! And I knew you’d make me decide for sure that I needed Moon Lake!
2) Sadie-Faith–it’s so good to see her recuperating! And she DOES look like she can’t wait to get off that couch and take on the world! What a blessing you were to her and she will be to her humans!
Oh Ann, what an amazingly gorgeous card, I absolutely love the diamond grid you create when you score the paper, looks beautiful with the addition of the pearls. The pretty embossing under that satin bow just finishes this classic card, there is absolutely nothing simple about it Ann, that is for sure.
Now, about that sweetie boxer named Sadie/Faith…..OH MY GOODNESS!! she looks amazing and comfortable and safe and loved!!! her scar is healing great, I’m so happy she didn’t loose her leg, it’s true about boxers, they need to run!!
Thank you for the update on her, I hope soon she is adopted into a forever family.
Clean but not simple is how I would describe this, Ann! So many subtle but beautiful details.
