It’s Thursday, and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week is a color challenge: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Soft Suede. I thought these colors would be perfect for a masculine card, so I pulled out the Guy Greetings set and created a birthday card. I hope you enjoy today’s design.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- Tin Lizzy! The Old Coupe image was inked with Soft Suede, and stamped onto Naturals Ivory cardstock. An Ovals Collection framelit was used to cut it out. A few speckles were added using the Gorgeous Grunge Speckles stamp. To add depth, the car image was stamped a second time, snipped out, and popped atop the original using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Seeing red! The Real Red panel sports embossed diamonds, courtesy of the Simply Scored scoring tool and the Diagonal Plate. A few Pearls add a bit of interest, as does Linen Thread.
- A “classic” banner! The sentiment, “To A Classic” was inked in Soft Suede and stamped onto Naturals Ivory cardstock. Both ends were punched into a “V”, using the Hexagon Punch.
Even though this is a masculine card, I added the Pearls. I felt like something was needed. I tried Candy Dots, and they didn’t quite look right. Buttons were a little large for my liking. The men in my life are used to Pearls on their cards, so it won’t bother them one bit.
Before I leave you today, I do want to include another picture of Faith/Sadie. This was taken after her surgery. (If you have not been following the story of this brave little puppy, you can catch up by reading these previous posts: I Made a Difference Today and Faith Update.) Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever?
I think these colors worked perfectly for a masculine card. What do you think? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

The big huge dog offsets the pink fabric to let it be musculine.
LOVE IT.
Absolutely handsome my friend!! LOL!!!
Gorgeous card Anne – I was looking at using that piece of Soft Suede DSP too and I probably will seing how great it looks on your card – almost textured. I love the burst of colour from the red – works so well with the browns and adds a real modern feel to the vintage style stamp.
Thses are perfect colors for a guy card- and I like all the background texture and how you popped up the car image- fab work as always Ann
Oh Ann, I’m always in awe of your cards and you are just so amazing with perfect placement of pearls.
Love the card (as always!) . . . XXXXOOOO to Faith!
Gorgeous card…can’t wait to have this set come next week and play!
Ann I love your GUY card and the colors ARE perfect. The mix of textures is so masculine and I love the end result.
As for that little Faith/Sadie… she is sooooo forturnate to have you enter her little life. I cried reading the previous posts and can’t believe how cruel people can be to helpless little creatures. She is adorable and so glad her leg will heal soon. She will make a wonderful addition to some lucky and loving family. Hugs.
Ann, I love the card and masculine cards are always a challenge for me. I want to know what what and how is the piece behind the diagonal stripe is done. I keep reading but can’t figure it out? Is it stamped? Thanks for your help on this.
So glad Faith is doing well after her surgery. Beautiful puppy!
Hi, Paula! The vertical panel directly behind the Real Red panel is a strip of designer paper from the Flashback Designer Series Paper collection matted onto Crumb Cake, then onto Real Red. The Soft Suede chevron paper is from Park Lane. I hope this helps 🙂
Fabulous masculine card!
Faith/Sadie is a cutie. So happy she is on the road to recovery. Cannot understand how anyone could have hurt her.
What a beautiful card, love it–great design. Faith is adorable–she melts my heart I cannot understand how people can harm animals–they are so innocent. Love her and sure that the foster care parents will too.
Oh those beautiful eyes….would love to see her smile…. Your card is fabulous…love the color challenge and that you added the signature pearle, love this set….and your design!
Was the zig zag bossing folder used on the soft suede panel?
Really love the card.
Good colors for the masculine car and what guy wouldn’t love that car? Thanks for the update on Faith……….so glad the surgery is over!
Gorgeous Ann! Thank you for yet another wonderful piece of art.
Nice card! Love the colors! And I learned something……use a hexagon punch end to make “v’s” on banners! Never occurred to me to do that! You have so many good tricks and tips, Ann!
Ann, this is a great “guy card”! I’m always trying to make masculine cards. They are challenging to me.
I’ve read your previous posts and saw the pic of Faith today. I can’t imagine how anyone could hurt such a sweet little dog. She was lucky you were so willing to help her. You are a good soul.
Oh Ann, I’m so happy this little puppy is on her way to recovery. You mentioned surgery so I guess her little leg had to be amputated but, I know she will be fine and learn quickly how to walk and run on 3 legs, under the loving care of her new family. Thank you for the update, she looks great and what an incredible inspiration she gave you to create this wonderful and gorgeous masculine card.
I love each detail of it, the pearls and the twine really embellish this card in a very classy and masculine way, it’s perfect!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing both, the sweet story of this brave puppy and your beautiful card. You will forever be an important factor in the life of Faith/Sadie.
I do love those pearls on the masculine card! Who knew? YOU! Beautiful Card! That is a sweet pic of the boxer puppy. I wish everyone had a caring heart like yours! I volunteer for a Pug Rescue and wish I could save them all!
Love this card!
I love this color combo! And the design is card perfection! What a masterpiece!
You should be very proud that you came through for this cuties pup. Such a helpless puppy who was so lucky to have touched your kind heart. Hats off to you both. The card is a great help to me as I find men cards a challenge to do.
