Guy Greetings for The Paper Players

IMG_1463The Paper Players are back this week with a sketch challenge hosted by the talented Jaydee.  After having created several clean and simple cards these past few weeks, I just had to get back to my roots and create something a little distressed and vintage.  What better choice than the masculine set, Guy Greetings, from the Occasions Catalog! Enjoy!pp229

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • World’s Greatest snipper! The “World’s Greatest” banner was hand-snipped and popped up on dimensionals.  Of course, I just had to use the World Map pattern from the Typeset Designer Series Paper collection for the background!

  • Paper-snipped pugelist!  The vintage boxer was lightly tinted using a Blender Pen with Blushing Bride and Island Indigo inks.  He was then popped atop a houndstooth textured circle.  Although the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is retired, I just happened to have a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock which had been embossed a few years ago and never used.  I was saving it for just the right card.  Since I loved how it coordinated with the Houndstooth patterned paper from the Adventure Bound stack, I decided it had found its new home.

  • Touches of texture! 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and 1/4″ Island Indigo Cotton Ribbon add a wonderful touch of texture.  Plus, I found a new home for one of my last retired faux wood buttons.  Woo hoo!IMG_1463-003

I love the look of Island Indigo with Cajun Craze, especially when Early Espresso is added to the mix. And I really LOVE this set.  I can’t wait to ink it up again.

I am going to leave you today with a picture of Muffy and her new bed.  Many of you have asked about Muffy, and if she was going to have puppies any time soon.  Well… it’s almost time for her to visit the bakery! She was sleeping so soundly when I snapped this picture…I’m sure she was thinking about the “Dog of Her Dreams”!IMG_1465Unfortunately, I will not be attending Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership next week, because family comes first.  Instead of Orlando, Muffy and I will be heading out to meet her Canadian “Prince Charming”.  Please keep your fingers crossed I can negotiate the traffic, and that Muffy approves of the handsome young man she will be meeting.  For those of you who will be going to Leadership, I wish you safe travels.  I will miss seeing you…

As always, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

I especially like your use of the typeset paper – I always forget there is map paper in this set, which can come in so handy! Hope all went well with Muffy and there will soon be news of mini-Muffy’s in the oven!

I am so pleased that you turned the sketch and what a great focal element. This card had me smiling and WAY TO GO on the fussy cutting! You really are masterful at adding so much detail and not overcrowding the card. Fabulous.
