Blender Pen and Inks Butterfly Basics for Pals Paper Arts

Butterfly BasicsIt’s Thursday, and time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts! This week, we have a soft and gorgeous trio of colors with which to work:  Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Sky.  I decided to indulge in a little faux watercoloring, and pulled out my Blender Pens and inks.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This folded card measures 4-1/4″ wide and 5-1/2″ long.

  • Blender Pen Beauty! The flowers from Butterfly Basics were faux watercolored using Blender Pens, Pink Pirouette and Pistachio Pudding inks.  Tips:  Use StazOn ink, and make certain your Blender Pen is wet.  Remove a smidge of color, before working on your image…you can always add more color if the hue is too light!

  • Black Butterflies! The Butterfly images were inked with Memento Black ink, and then stamped off once before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.  The coordinating punch and die makes easy work of punching them out.   Of course, I couldn’t resist adding a few pearls.  (Please note: The Butterfly Thinlits Die 137360 is temporarily not orderable.)

  • Beautiful Bow!  A Whisper White Organza bow adds a touch of texture.  As always, I used my old-school cardboard bowmaker!  THIS VIDEO  (from my archives) gives you the dimensions in case you want to make your own bowmaker.

Butterfly Basics-001There is something so soft and serene about this card.  My sister has an April birthday, and I think it will perfect for her.  What do you think? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! As always, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  4. So beautiful! When I saw this set, I wanted it, then I told myself but you don’t make cards like that, and actually listened to myself and didn’t get it. I had the sense to let true artists like you do it justice and you certainly have! Thanks.

  5. Ann, this is such a lovely spring card! I absolutely love the fussy cutting and the way you’ve popped everything up on dimensionals gives it a shadow box feel. Those black and white butterflies are the perfect finishing touch along with that shimmering satin bow. Sooo pretty!

So pretty in pink! I can almost smell them! There is a house on the corner who has crocus flowers blooming! I love the touches of the pearls as well. That bow is the crowning touch! Well done my friend!

  10. Soft, pretty, and feminine. Your sister will love it.

  11. In your watercoloring, what is the Staz On ink for?

    • Hi, Nancy! When watercoloring with Blender Pens, I use Jet Black StazOn for stamping the image. StazOn does not smear/smudge when it comes in contact with the solution in the Blender Pen.

  12. I’m sure your sister is going to love this card. It is lovely!

  13. Beautiful card, Ann

  14. As usual you have out done yourself. I love everything about it. Especially the colors. Well done.

  20. Oh Ann, this is just so lovely, this beautiful image looks alive with this soft colors, the blender pen really achieves that water colored look. Now Ann, your layers of card stock are incredible, what a beautiful way to frame your work of art. The bow and ribbon and the lovely pearls add such an elegant look to the card, truly finishes it perfectly.
