Hello Spring

Are you like me? Are you ready to say “Goodbye Winter – Hello Spring”? If so, this Hello Spring card may just help you drive away the winter doldrums. It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

Hello Spring
It’s Clean and Simple week at The Paper Players, and I have the honor of being the host. Animal lover that I am, I couldn’t help but pick Wild About Wildlife for the theme.  The Players would like to see you feature an animal on your Clean and Simple card.  From lions and tigers and bears, oh my, to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, I can’t wait to see what YOU create.  But remember, it is CAS week, so make sure your cards:

  • Have minimal layers and embellishments
  • Have plenty of open space
  • Are simple and uncluttered

Hello Spring
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

On some cards the designer series paper does all of the work, but not today.  It’s the dies that do the heavy lifting.  Creating this card couldn’t be any easier. The only time consuming task is gluing together these stunning birds, and adding the blossoms to the card front. As much as I would have loved to adorn those flowers with pearls, I did try to keep it cleaner and simpler.

Notes from Nueve

Hey, everyone! It’s me! Good Boy Nueve! Sixxy and I haven’t been able to go on walks the past few days.  One day we had ice and snow, and Mom wouldn’t take us out.  Then we had sun, and Mom still wouldn’t take us on a walk. She said it was too cold. I don’t think it’s too cold, but she said I didn’t count  ’cause I have a fur coat on.  Sixxy was mad about it.  She decided to play the “Inside-Outside” game.  Do you know how to play that game?  Mom hates it, but Sixxy always gets her to play.  It’s where Sixxy wants to go out, so Mom gets up to let her out.  Then Sixxy wants to come in. So Mom gets up to let her in. Then Sixxy asks to go back out, but she waits until Mom has sat back down. SO Mom gets up to let her out…that game. SIxxy gets her to do that a bunch of times. Then Mom loses her patience and says, “NO. You can’t go back out!” and Sixxy puts on her pouty face.

Hello Spring

This time, though, I thought Sixxy looked super sad. I felt bad for her ’cause what if she really did have to go potty?  So I decided to help her. After all, that is what I do. I’m a helper.

Hello Spring

I walked over to join her at the door and lend a paw.  Maybe if we both stared at the door it would magically open.

hello spring

It didn’t work, no matter how hard we stared at the door.  It just wouldn’t open.

Hello Spring

I told Sixxy maybe we should both look pitiful, and see if Mom would open the door.  I used my best puppy dog eyes, and Sixxy dropped her head and looked really, really sad.

Hello Spring

But you know what, Mom still said “No!” and she said it in her “I Mean Business” voice. So, we just decided to take a nap in front of the fire window.

Hello Spring

After all, being a working dog is hard work. And that’s what I am. I’m a working dog.  I am Good Boy Nueve!

hello spring

Tower of Cupcakes

What could be better than one cupcake? A tower of cupcakes!  It’s time to play at Festive Friday – Home of the Inspo List!

tower of cupcakes

For this week’s challenge, we are inspired by National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day. Remember, at Festive Friday you do not need to actually celebrate or make a card for the occasion featured. Your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. I used baked goods, texture, stripes, twine and circles to create my card.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Tower of Cupcakes

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

One of the most fabulous wedding receptions I have ever attended was one which featured a tower of cupcakes.  Each cupcake was a stunningly beautiful work of art, featuring edible glitter and sprinkles which resembled pearls.  Fresh flowers were used as fillers on the tiered trays.  These cupcakes were too pretty to eat. However,  in order to not offend the bride and groom, I forced myself to eat one.  (Wink!)  It was this memory which served as the inspiration for today’s card.  While I certainly have never decorated cupcakes like this in real life, it was definitely fun to do so on paper!  I left the sentiment off of this card, and will add one when I send it. It could be suitable for birthdays, hello, thank you and more!

Notes from Nueve

Hey, everyone! It’s me, Good Boy Nueve.  When my Mom was talking about the card she was making, I thought she was saying PUP cakes, not cupcakes, and I got really excited.  Her pup cakes are the best.  And guess what…they are made from Peanut Butter.  I think they are perfect for National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day! I sure hope she makes me one!

Tower of Cupcakes

This week I’ve done “boy” things with my Dad.  I’ve helped him watch the Old Limpiks.  I sit across his lap and help keep him warm, just like a fur blankie.  I like it when the people go down the big hills with the boards on their feet, using big sticks to guide them.  Boy, would I love to chew on those sticks.

tower of cupcakes

Watching them and rooting them on makes me tired, though.  Sometime I just have to lay my head down on the table and rest.

tower of cupcakes

Helping Dad is hard work, but that’s my job. I am getting so sleepy. But, I’m a working dog….so sleepy…I’m Good Boy…z-z-z-z-z

Tower of cupcakes

Shhh!  Working Dog recharging his batteries.  Good Boy Nueve, signing off!

Friendship Card in Spring Hues

Are you ready for a little spring in your life? How about a friendship card in spring hues? It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

friendship card in spring huesThis week, the amazing LeAnne is hosting our Color Challenge. She has selected a trio of spring colors for us.  I immediately thought of flowers.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create for us this week!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Usually with a color challenge, I look to my stash of designer series papers for inspiration. However, much to my chagrin, I really didn’t have anything interesting in these colors. SO…out came the stamps and inks, and I created my own. The larger Crane of Fortune flower was inked in So Saffron, which I randomly stamped onto a Basic White panel.  I stamped leaves of Mint Macaron to fill up the white space.  To add a little texture, I embossed this panel with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. Of course, you know me!  I could not resist adding some leafy frond die cuts in the challenge colors, and a splash of glimmer paper sparkle!

Notes from Nueve

It’s been really sad here since Great Uncle Brody left us to go cross The Bridge.  But, Sixxy and I have been extra good, and we have worked extra hard to try and make Mom and Dad smile.

friendship card in spring hues

We had our birthday Thursday.  Mom and Dad took us to the special doggy toy store.  We got to pick out a toy.  I picked out a tennis ball shaped like a bone.  Sixxy was a copy kitty, and picked out the same thing.   Plus, we got Frosty Paws.  We all gobbled it down really fast, even Uncle Jackie, who has been really sad.  He’s been crying, and sleeps on Great Uncle Brody’s night-night bed,  even in the day.  He NEVER sleeps on Great Uncle Brody’s night-night bed, ever!

friendship card in spring hues

Sixxy and I have included him in our playtime to make him happy.  He might be bigger and stronger, but I am faster.  He can’t get past me!

friendship card in spring huesSee my special vest? Sixxy and I are practicing wearing our Holter vests.  Now that we are big kids, we have to get special tests done on our hearts, so we have to wear a machine on our back that has wires coming from it. They are called ‘trodes. Mom said the ‘trodes measure how good our hearts beat.

friendship card in spring hues
We will have to wear the machine for 24 hours.  Mom said that means that when I get tested, I’ll eat breaksy, have the machine and special vest put on,  and then I won’t get them taken off until after I eat breaksy again.  She made us wear the vest for practice all afternoon, to make sure we could run, play, potty and eat with it on.  We have to practice a few more times before we get the machine put on so we won’t be stressed.  I know my heart will be really good.

Well, I have to go help Mom. She said she has lost her mojo. I don’t know what that is, but I am going to help her find it anyway. It’s my job. I am a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!
