A Dove for PP764

It is Clean and Simple week at The Paper Players! Our talented host, Stef, has selected a timely theme: Make a Clean and Simple card featuring your favorite holiday image, such as a Santa, a Menorah, candles, presents, ornaments, a Christmas tree and more. Yep! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

I pulled out the retired Peace on Earth dies and created a dove card. I can’t wait to see what you create. Just remember it is Clean and Simple week. Make sure your creations meet the following criteria:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

Colors for a Dove for PP764

While there are many iconic images of the holiday season, my favorite is a dove. There is something innately calming and spiritual about a dove. To me, a dove represents the season’s messages of hope and goodwill, of peace and love, of harmony and family. I LOVE Stampin’ Up!’s retired Detailed Dove dies. They produce a beautiful and elegant representation of a dove. Perched upon an ornate rectangle, die cut using a Peace on Earth die, she forms the focal point of my card. The lovely, embossed background was made using the Peaceful Greenery 3D embossing folder. Embellishments were kept to a minimum, with three gold flower accents complimenting the gold olive branch she holds in her beak. Although I would love to keep her and frame her, giving her a prominent place on my mantle, she will instead be winging her way to my son and his wife to adorn his mantle.

Acorns and Oak Leaves

What better way to celebrate Autumn than with two of the iconic images of the season: Acorns and Oak Leaves! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.

It’s color week at The Paper Players! For PP763, the talented Jan is our amazing hostess. She is treating us to a delightful quartet of hues: Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Old Olive. I couldn’t wait to celebrate the season with another leafy, fall card. What about you? I can’t wait to see what YOU create. But as I always say, before you gather up your stamps, papers, and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible “Teamies”, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It truly does brighten our day!

PP763 colors for Acorns and Oak Leaves

I have never regretted living in a neighborhood that is blessed with so many trees, even when it’s time to rake. The ash tree in our backyard just finished dropping the last of her leaves this past week. We also have maple trees in our side and front yard, while our neighbors have oaks and sycamores. Although the ash may be finished shedding her crowning glory, the mighty oaks have just begun.

The leaves and acorns image on today’s card is from the Amber Autumn stamp set. I inked the image in Versamark followed by Early Espresso and stamped it onto Very Vanilla cardstock. It was then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The leaves were colored using Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends, with just a tinge of Pumpkin Pie. After all, what is fall without a little Pumpkin Pie (wink). Extra color was lifted off as needed. For the acorns, I used a Blender Pen and Early Espresso ink, removing most of the ink from the blender pen before shading the acorns. The image was die cut out and placed upon an Early Espresso Spotlight on Nature circle, accented with a gold hoop and a bow crafted from Mossy Meadow & Gold ribbon. The Gathering Leaves embossing folder provides lovely texture for the background. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso and die cut using a Stylish Shapes die. Three Flower Accents provided the perfect finishing touch.

Grateful For The Everyday Magic Of You

Sometimes I have difficulty expressing how grateful I am to have certain people in my life. I have found that when that happens, a lovingly created card can express my gratefulness more eloquently than I can. The sentiment, “Grateful for the Everyday Magic of You”, is a perfect way to let someone know how much they mean to you. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Grateful for the everyday magic of you

It’s theme week at The Paper Players. For PP762, sweet and lovely LeAnne has selected the timely theme of “Thankful for You”. While I usually love to create “leafy” cards in the colors of the season, I went an entirely different route. Today’s card mirrors the magical beauty of nature and was perfect for a card that honors how grateful I am to have a certain person in my life everyday. I can’t wait to see what YOU create for this week’s challenge. But before you gather up your stamps, papers, and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible “Teamies”, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

Grateful for the everyday magic of you

Today’s card is one where the Light & Wonder dies and cardstock do all the work. Using the gorgeous Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper as my color inspiration, I die cut snowcapped mountains from Basic White with a Smoky Slate overlay. Pretty Peacock hills were layered next, followed by Blackberry Bliss trees in the distance. The larger trees in the foreground were die cut from Gorgeous Grape. The die cuts were then strategically placed on the designer paper so it appeared as if we were peaking through the forest at a beautiful mountain lake. The sentiment, from the retired Something Fancy stamp set, was hand cut and accented with a trio of simple rhinestones.

Hey, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! Guess what! We got to go Trick-or-Treating at obedience class Thursday. We got cookies, and all we had to do was wear our costumes. Sixxy’s costume was the BEST. She went as a diva.

Uncle Q was a “handsome devil”. He looks scary! His horns were sparkly and his tie had diamonds on it.

As for me, I was a unicorn. My mane was made of gorgeous feathers and my horn was gold.

Mom made a Howl-o-ween card that had all three of us on the front. She even made our noses look our real noses. I have lots of pink, Sixxy has her freckles, and Uncle Q is just kind of gray. She gave me angel wings ’cause I am a such a good boy.

We had lots of fun on Howl-o-ween and wore our costumes the whole time. It made my Mom and Dad smile. It made all of the other people at the class smile, too, especially when Sixxy wagged her tail and her whole skirt was wiggling. Yep! Making our people smile is just part of our jobs. We are Working dogs, and I am the bestest. I am Good Boy Nueve!
