“Spooky Cute” for PP758

An adorable Franken-pup, a beary-fairy godmother, bats and ravens! Spooky meets cute on today’s “spooky cute” adorable Halloween card. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.

spooky cute

This week it is sweet Claire’s turn to host our theme challenge. What a fun one it is: Halloween Costumes! I chose to watercolor this cutie-patootie Pup-N-Stein and place him into this spooky cute scene. I can’t wait to see what you create. But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible “Teamies”, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

It’s Lazy Stamper Ann here. Once again, I am letting the paper do all of the work. In the case of this card, the workhorse is the Spooky Sweet Specialty designer series paper. Although I did stamp and color the adorable pup with Stampin’ Blends, the rest of the images are precut and included with the designer paper. One of the patterns of paper includes a series of little scenes, of which I selected the front of a “spooky cute” house. The “Spooky” sentiment is from the Spooky Halloween stamp set, which is part of this Spooky Sweet suite. Since every card deserves a little bling, I went wild with basic rhinestones and a glittery jelly roll pen. Now call me crazy, but this one is headed off to “Kia the Boxer”, one of the last two Muffy daughters, along with some yummy treats. Nueve and Sixxy wanted to make certain their Aunty Kia had a spooky cute Halloween.

A Foxy Fall Card

I love foxes. I love Fall. Therefore, it stands to reason that I LOVE a foxy fall card. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players in PP757.

This week it is the amazing Stef’s turn to host our sketch challenge. I love a great sketch, and that is exactly what Stef delivered. It’s a versatile one, and Stef said we could “layer it up” if we wanted. Well you know me – the more layers the merrier! While I opted to create a foxy fall card, I can’t wait to see what you create. But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible “Teamies”, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

The Amber Autumn dies, along with my paper snips, are the heroes of today’s card. The gorgeous leafy background was die cut from Earthen Toned Metallic paper and layered over the fox patterned Autumn Toile paper. Although Stef said the center element of her sketch could be any shape, I stayed with a circle which I die cut using the large circular Stylish Shapes die. It served as the anchor for the leafy Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow die cuts. The foxes were fussy cut from the fox paper. I love how they are facing each other, looking so sly and crafty, as if plotting their next foxy escapade. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “The sleeping fox catches no poultry.” Without a doubt, the Autumn Toile Suite collection is one of my favorite splurges!

Autumn Wishes and Nueve, Too

Fall is my favorite season. Followed by Winter, then Spring. (Sorry, Summer, but your temps and humidity are low on my list of faves. Maybe it is because both of these are hard on my squishy-nosed Boxer kids.) Having said this, it probably is no surprise that I LOVE making cards to celebrate this time of the year. You can bet that I will be creating several “Autumn Wishes” cards to send to family and friends, just like this one. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players , PP756 edition!

Autumn Wishes

This week, the incredible Jan is hosting our Clean and Simple challenge. She has selected “Watercolor” as our focus. I watercolored this lovely pumpkin image to serve as my focal point. I can’t wait to see what YOU create. Just remember it is Clean and Simple week. Make sure your creations meet the following criteria:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

Because Jan selected watercoloring as our focus, I fell back on one of my favorite techniques from ages ago: Faux Watercoloring using blender pens and ink. The image was stamped in Jet Black Stazon. Color was applied to the image using a blender pen. Some people squeeze the covers of their ink pad together to transfer ink to the inside of the top cover, using the ink that pools on the inside of the lid. I used to do this. These days, however, Lazy Stamper Ann simply touches the tip of the blender pen to the corner of the ink pad itself. My ink pads are fine and no worse for the wear. I remove any excess color from the blender pen onto grid paper, and then I watercolor away. Easy-peasy! I always start light and add more color as needed. I added texture to the card by using the Gathering Leaves embossing folder. A Spotlight On Nature die cut circle serves as the landing spot for the image, sentiment and embellishments.

Hey, Everybody! It’s me! Nueve! I am so excited to tell you that I am officially a Canine Good Citizen. My Mom took me to take a test with an evaluator. Mom said an evaluator was like a judge. I know all about judges. I had to do more than just look handsome, though. I had to walk all over the ring on a loose leash. The evaluator petted me, brushed me, looked in my ears and picked up my feet. I had to meet a tiny little dog who walked right up to me. It was a Papillion. He had fluffy ears and long fur. While Mom talked to the owner lady, I got bored. I laid down and rolled onto my side. I was all ready to take a nap, but I had to do more test things. I had to walk through a group of people who were also walking. One of them had a metal thing she leaned on and moved. Mom told me it was a walker. It wasn’t a problem. I had to do some other things like sit, stay, lie down and come when called. The evaluator also made lots of really loud noises. She was impressed because I didn’t move at all. Finally, my mom had to leave me with a stranger for three minutes while she left the room and I couldn’t see her. The stranger was a really nice woman. I sat downside beside her the entire time while she petted me. At the end of the test, the evaluator lady told me how good I was. I got a ribbon and a certificate and Mom and Dad bought me a toy.

Of course, we had to get pictures. Here I am giving Mom a kiss, after telling her “We did it”!

Autumn Wishes

Mom also wanted to get another picture. She likes having lots of pictures of me.

Autumn Wishes

Sixxy already has her Canine Good Citizen title, and so does Uncle Q. I think Sixxy was feeling a little a sad ’cause she didn’t get a new toy. She just had her old pink ball.

Autumn Wishes

I know Mom felt bad that Sixxy’s feelings were hurt. She did get her a new pink ball and then made her a new sparkly necklace. Sixxy LOVES sparkly necklaces. It’s much prettier in person. She then told Sixxy how beautiful and smart she was, and that made her feel so much better!

Autumn Wishes

Mom is so happy I am a good citizen. I am, too. It is an honor that Mom and I worked together as a team to earn. That night, after we got home, she gave me a big hug and told me how proud she was of me. And that night, I gave her extra kisses and snuggled up a little bit closer. Being a good team mate is just one of my jobs. I am a Working Dog! I am Good Boy Nueve!
