And Lexi Makes Three…The Twins Gain a Sister

Burlwood’s Unlike Any Other  (“Lexi Lou”)

Sometimes when one door closes, another one opens…and so it is with little Lexi.  Last August, I asked a Boxer breeder acquaintance if she would help me select my next show dog when the time came, knowing that it would be several years down the road.  Although I did not know her well at the time, I summoned up my courage to ask for her help.  She gladly agreed. You can imagine my surprise when she contacted me a few weeks later to see if I would like to have a puppy from an upcoming litter she was going to have in April 2012. She was going to entrust me with a baby girl sired by her multiple best in show winning international champion.

When asked why she would select us for such a little treasure, she said she was impressed with the Twins…that they were in beautiful condition and so very loving.  She said she could tell that we were the type of family she wanted for her puppies’ forever homes.

Kim and I discussed it, and we knew that we could not let this opportunity pass us by, even though we would have three dogs on the show circuit.  And then it happened…Brody’s cancer.  Despite the fact that the vets removed it all, we have made the extremely difficult decision to retire him from the show ring.  Brody will never be an AKC champion, but that will not lessen the fact that he is a beautiful, beautiful boy and that we love him dearly.

And so the fun begins…again! Welcome to our world, Lexi Lou!   Until next time…

Dad’s the Best for the Pals Paper Arts

It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week is a patriotic Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy Color Challenge…just perfect for a masculine card and the Best Dad Ever stamp set! I hope you enjoy this quick and easy card.  It is wonderful for whenever you need a masculine card in a jiffy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Easy Masculine Cards

This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide x 4-1/4″ long.

  • Masculine Patterns! What better way to create a masculine feel than with Night of Navy Pinstriped paper overlayed onto Whisper White Houndstooth Embossing!  The result is clean and classy!

  • Masculine Embellishments! A new Naturals Designer Button, complete with a Linen Thread bow, is perfect for accenting the Best Dad Ever sentiment from the set of the same name!
  • Make it “pop”! A single Real Red tie, paper snipped and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals, symbolizes that Dad is one of a kind!

What do you think of this quick and easy card?  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Brody Update

Brody will have his next bump removed on Monday.  Dr. Brooke thinks it is a cyst, but if it looks suspicious when it is removed, she will have it biopsied.  Another bump which I found in the same general location was not visible when Dr. Brooke examined him.  This is why she is waiting a week before the next surgery…in case the bump reoccurs.  Dr. Brooke said that sometimes Mast Cell Tumors will change in size overnight, from large to small, and back again.  She wanst to see if anything comes back.  So far, not a thing has returned!

Plus, when I asked Brooke about the first bump, she did reassure me that she got it all.  That is good news indeed.
