Happy New Year and Online Publishing News

It’s New Year’s Day!  2013, full of fresh promises, is ahead of us.  2012, with its smiles and tears, ups and downs is behind us.  It is a day to think of what may be and what has been.  It is a time to offer thanks for the many things which we have been given.  For me, one of the most treasured gifts I have received is your friendship.  I hope that I can continue to give to each of you in return.  I hope that my work inspires and my posts teach.  And I hope that I never bore you with the stories of the Twins and Lexi.

Let’s finish the final months in my Year in Review!  To read more about each card, simply click on its nameAnd at the end of today‘s post you will discover which of my cards was published online at Scrapbook Expo’s Weekly Scrapper magazine and was featured on Scrapbook Expo‘s Facebook Page.  Can you guess which one it was?

June

Mouthwatering for The Paper Players
With its adorable Designer Paper and awesome double bow, it is no wonder that this cutiepatootie card is my choice for June.  It is a rarity when my attempts at cute turn out well.

July

I couldn’t pass up this masculine card as my choice for July. I thought the woodgrain texture and the tape measure worked well with the Tool Shed background stamp.
August

This card had all of my favorite hallmarks…except pearls.  It was destined to be my fall favorite.

September
Monochromatic hues with “pops” of blue made this card my favorite for September.  I love the deep texture of the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.
October

An awesome color palette combined with little extras like linen thread bows, a glimmer paper star, and pearls, moved this card to the head of the class in October.
November
With its plethora of pearls, this card was my favorite of all of the Christmas cards I designed this year.  I was going to surprise my friend in South Carolina with it…until it was destroyed by the evil Puppinator.  Sorry Nancy.  Arghh!
 December

Distressing, pearls and a certain “clean-ness”, makes this card my favorite for December.

MY FAVORITE CARD of the YEAR

Not only was this card my favorite of the year, it was featured at Scrapbook Expo.  You can check out where it was featured on their blog here and on their Facebook page, where it has currently received 1054 likes.

So there you have my year in review.  May you have a fabulous New Year! Until next time…

Got Ten? Make Twenty…Card #2: “Cheers” for the New Year

Welcome to my new series…“Got Ten? Make Twenty“.  These are cards that can be made in approximately 10 – 15 minutes with little muss or fuss.  They are created using Stampin’ Up!’s 5-1/8″ x 3-5/8″ Note Cards, and are just perfect for sweet little cards when you are short on time but still want to give a hand-made card.  Where does the “Make Twenty” part come from?  It comes from the fact that there are 20 note cards in a package.  And just where is Card #1?  It’s right here…Christmas Card Emergency.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Clean and Cute Happy New Year
The finished card measures 5-1/8″ x 3-5/8″.

  • Stamp! Three Drinks from the Happy Hour stamp set were inked with Jet Black StazOn and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. They were then snipped out with Paper SnipsTime Saving Tip:  Just ink’er up, and stamp right onto the card base.
  • Snip! These same images were inked with Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo and stamped onto Whisper White card stock.  Just the “liquid” was snipped out and adhered to the first images.

  • Sparkle! A single Rhinestone was added to each beverage, and a small strip of Silver Glimmer Paper was adhered to the bottom of the card.
  • Sentiment! The word “cheers” was selectively inked from the sentiment “3 Cheers for You”  using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and stamped onto Whisper White card stock.  It was then punched out with an oval punch and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

There you have it…cute, quick, and easy-peasy!

Spotlight on Lisa Eisner

Lisa Eisner, of Crafting with Princess Lisa, is well known for her fabulous designs.  Besides being super-talented, she is also super sweet.  For the past three Christmases, she has surprised me with one of her fabulous three-dimensional creations.  Two years ago, she made these adorable “Treat Houses” for the Twins and included a crystal ornament for me.

Last year, it was a cute “Apron Box”,  which said “Ann’s Kitchen”. It contained a little spatula and dip mix.  The Twins were happy.  They got treats.  “Mrs. Lisa” always knows what they like!

This year she created these adorable “Christmas Chairs” for Kim, Brady and me.  They contained yummy chocolate truffles.  As for the Twins and Lexi, they got one of their all-time favorites, Pupperoni sticks.  Thank you so much, Lisa, for sharing your talent…and treats…with the entire Schach family!

A Blast from the Past: March, April and May

If you are looking for The Paper Players challenge, we will be resuming our challenges next Sunday.  Today, we are introducing you to our new Guest Designers.  Please make certain to check out today’s post.  In the meantime, I am continuing my Year in Review, with the months of March, April and May.  Enjoy!

March

Out West with the Pals
My favorite from March first appeared on my blog on March 15th.  It ranks as my all-time favorite masculine card.  This stamp set retired, and I must confess that I do miss it. I loved the now-retired Well Worn Designer Paper.  It was perfect for masculine cards. I still have some stashed away.  And amidst the ropes and steer horns, I did manage to add pearls!

April
April was a creative month for me! Maybe it is because it is my birthday month.  I really had a tough time narrowing down my favorite.  Finally I decided on this watercolored creation.

Watercolored Thoughts of You
I continued my new-found (at the time) romance with Poppy Parade when I created this card.  Pearls, texture, a double bow, popped-up paper snipped flowers, and a bannered sentiment…this card has all of my favorite elements!

May

Memories of Mom
Distressed and vintage, this card was created for a Mother’s Day challenge.  Although my mother has been gone for 35 years, she would have cherished this card.  She loved antiques and vintage linens, and this card certainly evokes memories of these.  Of course, I just had to add pearls…again!

I hope you will join me tomorrow as I look back at the hot months of summer.  Plus, I have some cutie-patootie “chair candy boxes”, created by my friend, the talented Lisa Eisner,  to share with you.  And speaking of shares…please read about the new product shares I am offering.  The deadline for signing up for the first round of shares is 6:00 PM CST, Wednesday, January 2nd.
