The Stamp Review Crew: Kinda Eclectic Version

Welcome back for another round of inspiration from the Stamp Review Crew!  This week we are featuring Kinda Eclectic. I am #8 on the hop. You may have just left stop #7: the talented Deb Courier. If so, you are in the right spot.  I hope you enjoy today’s hop!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Depth and dimension! I am always looking for ways to add interest, as well as depth and dimension to my cards.  In this case, the Always Artichoke leaves were snipped out and popped atop dimensionals, while the Cajun Craze butterfly was stamped twice, punched, and layered.  Burlap ribbon adds texture.  For a slightly different effect, I added two snipped banner ends.

    • Feeling sentimental!  After inking the sentiment which comes with this set, I snipped out the single word “kindness”.  I love how the script looks as part of this collage.

      • Accents! Venetian Crocheted Lace was added to the bottom of the image mat, as well as a Tea Lace Paper Doily.  Of course, just like Jello, there is always room for pearls!

        I received this set at Convention, and today marks the first time I inked it up.  What in the world was I thinking, waiting this long? It’s an awesome set! While I elected to dirty my card up and use every stamp in the set, I can’t wait to explore the cleaner side of this set’s personality.  What do you think of my attempt at a mini-collage?         Vintage for The Paper Players

        It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players! The fabulously talented LeAnne is hosting a Theme Challenge: Vintage! Simply feature something vintage or antique on your creation, or make your card look vintage or antique.  I opted to make a vintage looking card using the Lovely as a Tree and Winter Post stamp sets.  Although Winter Post is retired, it is available as a digital download.  I hope you enjoy today’s creation.

         Here are my favorite tips for achieving a vintage look:

        • Distress and speckle! A Sponge Dauber, the Speckles image from Gorgeous Grunge, and Soft Suede ink can age a card instantly.
        • Images!  Subjects such as these ice skaters easily add a vintage flair to any card. 
        • Font!  Select fonts that are suited for the time period of the images.  Christmas Greetings,  from the retired hostess set “Warmth and Wonder”, evokes an early 1900’s feel.
