Sometimes no matter how much you wish for something, it just does not come true. You can wish for it with all your heart and all your soul, but it still does not come true. So it is with Muffy. I wished she would finish her grand champion title in Springfield, IL this past weekend. She needed two wins. I know time is running out for her in more respects than one. Her handler, Amy, is under contract to begin working with a new girl next month. She will take Muffy’s place in the Best of Breed class. Muffy will finally get the chance to be the excellent mother she is destined to be. No more latex fish babies or toy footballs for her. Living, breathing New Year’s puppies will make their debut, and a new chapter of The Muffy Chronicles will begin.
But when I saw the numbers of champions entered at Springfield, and when I saw those champions included Best in Show winners, Best of Breed winners, and the #3, #6, and #7 ranked Boxers in the nation, I knew the chances of winning once, let alone twice, were slim.
But sometimes small miracles happen. Muffy did win a select rating one day! You can see her sharing a celebratory kiss with Amy in the photo above. We are now one major win away from her Grand title. And so the wishing begins again. In fourteen days, Muffy will sparkle in the ring one final weekend in Kalamazoo, MI. If she wins, she will become Grand Champion Cimarron’s Do You Know the Muffin Man. If she does not…she will forever remain just one win away. And so, the wishing continues.
Until next time…
