Choose Happiness for The Paper Players

IMG_2034It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week we have a sketch challenge for you.  I felt the oval was perfect for showcasing flowers, so I selected the Choose Happiness stamp set, and created a little collage.  I hope you like what I created for you!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long when folded.

  • Collage! An embossed oval makes the perfect backdrop for paper-snipped leaves, flowers, and a bird.  Pearls…and a star from the Basic Hodgepodge Clips collection…are the perfect accents.

  • Banners!  A mix of colors and patterns were used to create the banners.  Chocolate Chip looks yummy with Lost Lagoon, especially against the So Saffron background.

  • Sentiment!  “When I need a friend, you’re there” is such a heartfelt sentiment, and perfect for the recipient of this card. I simply used the Hexagon Punch to make the “V” at each end, and added a little Crumb Cake ink to the edges to make it stand out against the scored background.

IMG_2034-004Of course, what would a post be without a puppy picture! In this one, little Jack looks like he is saying, “Hey! We’re trying to sleep here!”  I will confess, I do spend a lot time in the whelping box with the kids.  They are starting to play, and have sharp little teeth…and the cutest little growls.  Today they will be getting their first taste of puppy gruel.  How quickly they are growing up.  Little Chunkers weighs over 5 pounds at 3 weeks of age.

Puppy with CaptionChoose Happiness is one of my favorite sets.  I love using it for collages.  I know I got a little carried away with all of the different patterns and textures, but I think it works.  How about you…do you have a “rule” about mixing colors, patterns, and textures? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

Watercolored Indescribable Gift for Pals Paper Arts

IMG_2027-001It’s time to play at Pals Paper Arts!  The talented Nicole Watt has a sketch for us this week, which I felt would be perfect for showcasing a watercolored spray of flowers. So once again, I pulled out aqua painters, blender pens, and inks, and created this card using the Indescribable Gift stamp set.  Enjoy!

PPA249nmwThe Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 5″ x 5″ square.

  • Watercolored blossoms! The flowers were watercolored with Blender Pens, Wisteria Wonder, Plum Perfect and Pink Pirouette inks.  Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake inks were used for the stem and leaves.   A white Signo Gel Pen was used to accent the centers.  For a touch of bling, sequins with pearls were added.   The circle was watercolored using Aqua Painters and Pink Pirouette ink.

  • A beautiful bow! Sahara Sand Lace was used to create this double bow.  A few strategically placed Glue Dots hold the tails of the bow in position.

IMG_2027-003

  • Dream! The single word sentiment,  “Dream”,  is from the Think Happy stamp set.  This set, along with the Naturals White cardstock used for this card, is on the retiring list.

IMG_2027-004I love this sentiment, and am sad to see this set is retiring.  We all need our dreams…even little Boxer puppies.

IMG_1282I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  At first, I was going to cut the tails off the bow.  But then I decided to keep them long. It is a card which is one I will probably hand-deliver because of the bow.  What do you think…should I have cut them off? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  And remember, if you ever have a question about the techniques I use or the cards I create, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
