Awesomely Artistic for The Paper Players

IMG_2670It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!  This week the lovely Laurie has a Clean and Simple Theme Challenge for us:  Frames!  Since I did not have an eyeglass frame image, I opted to create an oval frame using oval framelits. I hope you enjoy today’s easy card!

This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Snip it! The flowers were faux watercolored with Blender Pens and Soft Sky, Night of Navy and Always Artichoke inks.  A little trick I like to do is to outline them with the corresponding color of Stampin’ Write Marker.  After fussy cutting, I added colored pearls to the centers.

  • Frame it! Oval Framelits were used to cut a frame to enhance the flowers. Of course, I could not resist the urge to add a few pearls.  These were colored using Soft Sky Blendabilities. Although they have been discontinued, I kept mine for…you guessed it…coloring pearls!

  • You’ve got a “friend”! Once in awhile I get brave enough to stamp directly onto the card, instead of onto a banner. When I do, I always use a Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.

IMG_2670-003I hope you enjoyed today’s card! It has been a busy week/weekend for sure! Between jury duty, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, potty training puppies and a dog show, there has not a dull moment here. Lexi has started her quest for her Grand Champion title, and won Best of Opposite Saturday.  There were heat advisories and wouldn’t you know it…the air conditioning was not working well at the show site.  However, we were able to get a picture of her not panting. She is with her handler, Terri.

As promised, the randomly selected winner of this card, created last week for my Guest Stamper spot on Mary Fish’s blog,  is Just B!

IMG_2660Congrats, Bonnielee! I will be sending your card out Monday!

So what do you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me. Although laden with pearls, it is pretty clean and simple for me! And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Butterfly Basics for Mary

IMG_2660I have the honor of being Mary Fish’s Guest Stamper today! As always, when I make a card for Mary to feature, I try to come up with something extra special.  I hope you enjoy this Butterfly Basics card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This cards measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long when folded.

  • Brick wall! I love the new Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, especially when I add I touch of color to make the mortar stand out.  This time I used Crumb Cake ink and applied it using a sponge.  The background stamp from You’ve Got This was inked in Soft Sky, and the Netting image from Butterfly Basics was inked with Sahara Sand.

  • Frame it! An oval frame was created from Whisper White cardstock by using Oval Framelits. It provides a way to highlight the watercolored flowers.

IMG_2660-003

  • Double delight! A double bow was created using Pink Pirouette Seam Binding.  A snippit of Sahara Sand lace adds a feminine touch.

IMG_2660-002Do you need a refresher on how to create double bows? Just watch this video from my archives.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Would you like to receive it in the mail? Just let me know in your comment.  I will randomly select one person from those who leave a comment (between today and Wednesday at Noon) to receive it.  It’s just a little something to thank you for being such loyal readers.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
