Holly Berry Happiness Cards for The Paper Players

img_1738-001The Paper Players had a lovely sketch this week which is the foundation for today’s card.  I always love it when layers are tilted, and Sandy’s sketch is a classic!  This card, which features the Holly Berry Happiness set,  is quick and easy.  Since I couldn’t decide on a background for the plaid panel, I photographed both of them.

img_1750Maybe I’ll emboss the Cherry Cobbler panel with the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and create a third version. But, that will have to wait for later! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.

Because this card is so simple, it needs very little explanation, other than the Holly image.   Here is a little “Mini-Tutorial” to explain how to recreate the look.

img_1752

  1. Create a 2-1/2” Whisper White oval and coordinating Gold Foil scalloped oval with the Layering Ovals framelits. Emboss the white oval with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and layer onto the gold foil oval.  Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  2. Stamp the Bow and Holly Spray Outlines in Archival Basic Black ink. Use the correlating solid images with Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green inks to fill in.  Snip out the spray, and punch out the bow with the Holly Berry Builder Punch.  Adhere to the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  3. Stamp and fill in two Single Leaves. Add to the spray as pictured, popping up on dimensionals.
  4. Embellish with Pearls as shown.

Holly Berry Happiness is a fun holiday set.  In case you are inspired to create other projects with it, here are a card and gift box I made earlier this year.

An In the Meadow Holiday Card for Freshly Made Sketches

img_1717As always, the team at Freshly Made Sketches is back with another fabulous sketch.  As they state, each week, one member of their design team creates a sketch for us to try.  The twist is to keep the project clean-lined and fresh!  Well, I may have failed that directive this week.  My water coloring technique is fresh, I think, with its soft pastel colors, except for those pesky pines! But, it was a fun card to create, and that is what it’s all about!  Enjoy!

fms-final-265-001The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.

  • Pounce!  The background for this card was created using baby wipes and inks.  I simply scrunched up a baby wipe, inked it up on my ink pad, and pounced around on the surface of the paper. I used Soft Sky, Smoky Slate, and Blushing Bride inks. Next, I added some Soft Sky Snowflakes created with the Snowflake stamp from Christmas Pines.  In addition, I stamped some Smoky Slate Trees and Always Artichoke Pines, courtesy of Lovely As a Tree.

  • Oh, deer! For the central image, I used the Doe and Fawn image from In the Meadow.  I colored them using Blender Pens with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede inks.  They were outlined with Soft Sky to give them a little depth. The white accents were created with StazOn Cotton White Opaque reinker.  A little sparkle is courtesy of Clear Wink of Stella.

  • A wee bit of sparkle! Sometimes it’s difficult to capture the sparkle on a card, despite my best efforts. But as I sat here typing up this post, I glanced over to where this card was sitting on the corner of my very messy desk.  And lo and behold, I saw sparkle! So, I grabbed my cell phone, and snapped a picture in the reduced light of the basement.  I simply used my Fine Tip Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  The white lines you see on the left of the card, by the sentiment, were created with a stamp from Timeless Textures which was heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. And that sentiment? Why it is from Holly Berry Happiness.

There are several tutorials that explain how to watercolor with baby wipes.  One of the best has been written by Kim Jolley, a true artist.  Can you believe that in almost seven years of stamping, I have never tried this technique?  I will say it’s always fun to try out new things.  What do you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment today?
