Bright and Cheery Birthday Card

What better way to wish someone a happy birthday than with a bright and cheery birthday card! It’s time to play with The Paper Players!

This week I have the pleasure of hosting our sketch challenge. I have selected a fun and versatile sketch that I hope you will love. I went a botanical route with my card, but I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Ever since I was a tot, I loved to color. Oh, how I treasured a new box of crayons! Maybe that is why this leafy pattern, part of the Botanical Textures designer series paper collection, appealed to me. I could envision all the fun I would have coloring these images. Out came the Stampin’ Write markers, specifically Summer Splash. I didn’t even worry about whether I stayed completely within the lines. Any little mishaps added to the charm. The coloring session was relaxing and just what I needed. The card came together quickly and easily. A Poppy Parade die cut (Memorable Blooms die), perched atop circles created using the Spotlight on Nature dies, adds a “pop” of color. The lovely texture is courtesy of the Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, while the sentiment is from the Greetings for All Ephemera Pack. How easy is that!

Hi, Mom’s Friends! It’s me, Nueve. I just wanted to let everyone know how I am doing. I had my two-week follow-up with Doc Rita a couple of weeks ago and I go in this Wednesday for my four-week follow-up. She’s going to take more special pictures. They are not like the pictures Mom takes of me. I have to go into a special room with Doc Rita and her helpers. It doesn’t hurt, but it is a little scary. The pictures are not very good. They just show my bones, but Doc Rita says they are important ’cause she can tell things about my “owie” leg. She was happy with how I was doing the last time I saw her. She said I could start going on short walks this past week, and that makes me happy.

When the weather is nice, Mom spends a lot of time with me outside. I stand where I can watch the neighbor sit on his porch. Mom said I shouldn’t stare, but I watch him anyway. I try to look handsome and pose for the neighbor, but I am losing some of my muscles. My obedience teacher, Miss Darcy, told Mom not to worry, ’cause when I get back to class, she will help me look handsome again.

Mom also lets me come out and be with Sixx and Uncle Q. They get to run all over the yard, but I stay next to Mom ’cause I still can’t run and play with them. I still have to be on my leash.

Mom did let me do something special on Friday. I got to go out on the back porch and watch the kids come home from school. I have missed watching them. I am good with the kids. I want a kid of my own some day, but Mom said “No”. I asked her if I could have a puppy, and she still said “No”. But she did say I might be able to get a another unicorn.

During my quiet times, I play with my puzzles. I am the bestest at solving them. Uncle Q doesn’t do very good with them at all. I tried to ‘splain to him that sometimes you slide them up to get the treat…

and sometimes you flip the lids up!

Teaching Uncle Q how to do puzzles is one job I can do while waiting for my leg to get better. I am a Working Dog. Jobs are what I do. I am Good Boy Nueve!

Anniversary Card PP729

If you need a special card which can be customized for a variety of occasions, today’s anniversary card may be the inspiration you need. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

It’s time for Clean and Simple week! Our host, the lovely and talented Joanne, is challenging us to use a single stamped image on our card. Roses were in order for my anniversary card, but there are SO MANY images that can be used. I can’t wait to see what YOU create.  But before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, keep in mind that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

I love a simple card idea which can be customized for any number of occasions. Although today’s card is an anniversary card, by switching out the sentiment it could be a wedding card, a birthday card, a Valentine, thinking of you, sympathy and more. Plus, you can customize the colors to accomodate the recipient’s personal preferance. I created this card to give to my husband for the anniversary we celebrated last week, and tailored it for us. Our wedding had a vintage vibe, so I felt the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder was a perfect choice for the background, but you can use any folder of your choice, or skip it completely. Our wedding colors were peach and sea foam, so I used Peach Pie and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends to color the flowers. Once again, you can use ANY color. The single image was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with gold, as was the sentiment which is from the Wonderful Thoughts set. Gold open weave ribbon and gold low profile dots add just enough interest without taking away from the cleaner vibe.

Pastel Floral Hello Card PP728

With gentle Spring right around the corner, why not welcome her in with a pastel floral “hello” card! It’s time to play with The Paper Players!

pastel floral hello card

This week is Color Challenge week at The Paper Players and the fabulous Jaydee has a fun palette of hues for us: Pastels! While I went with flowers and created a pastel floral hello card, I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

pastel floral hello card

Today’s pastel floral hello card is another easy-peasy beauty. With the pastel hues I used, I wanted to keep the floral aspects delicate and feminine. Linked Together dies provided me with exactly what I needed. The trellis was die cut from Basic White cardstock and matted onto Fresh Freesia Beautiful Bokeh designer paper. This panel was bumped up on dimensionals and centered onto a Basic White card base which had been covered in Balmy Blue bokeh paper. Soft Sea Foam leaves were die cut from Wildflower Birthday designer paper and adhered to the trellis. Next, Balmy Blue cardstock flowers were die cut and added in the positions shown, using dimensionals for two of them. A simple “hello” sentiment was created with the Wonderful Thoughts bundle. For the final touch, Two Tone Sparkle Gems add the perfect bling!

Hi, Mom’s Friends! It’s me, Nueve. I’m checking in with some updates. It will be two weeks this Tuesday since I got hurt. I am still not sure what a week is, but I still think it is close to being forever. I am trying to be a good boy even though I can’t run or play or do fun things. As hard as I am trying, sometimes I just am not quite good enough. Yesterday, when Mom went downstairs to the stamping room to get supplies to make a card, she left me by myself. She aways lets me go down to the stampin’ place ’cause I am a BIG help to her, but this time she didn’t. I was so worried about her that I jumped up on the couch so I could see out the window better. I thought maybe she had went outside instead. I am not supposed to do any jumping, and I know I am not supposed to be on the couch, but I did it out of concern for Mom. When Mom came upstairs after a few minutes, she gave me a big lecture and asked me if I wanted “sugary”. I like sweet things, so I don’t think sugary would be too bad. I thought she was going to get me some ice cream, but instead she put the baby fence in front of the couch so I wouldn’t jump on it again. I even tried pouting and looking sad. But it didn’t work. I still didn’t get anything sweet. Moms should never ask their kids if they want something, and then not give it!

On the bright side, Mom is trying to make my days better. She let me take a nap with Uncle Q, ’cause he is gentle with me. We laid right at Mom’s feet while she did stamping stuff. He’s getting Arthur-itis in his back, so he likes snuggling next to me. I keep his back warm. It’s one of my jobs.

‘Cause my leg is still a little ouchie, I like to curl up with my unicorn on my special bed. It’s a little bit off the floor, so it feels like I am floating in the air. Sadly, both of my unicorns will not fit on it with me at the same time. I use my pink one like a pillow, but I make sure that my white is still right beside me on the floor. I carry my white one around the house, ’cause he likes to go where I go.

Thanks to Mom’s stamping friend, Auntie Berta, I have ‘propriate toys and special treats to keep my mind busy. This is my favorite. I take the white bones out with my teeth and there are TREATS below them. Then I flip up the lids on the red boxes with my nose and there are TREATS! Next, I slide the red boxes and below them are TREATS! Mom makes sure I get diet treats, ’cause Doc Rita said I am ‘spose to stay thin while my leg heals.

Auntie is very wise. She knows a Working Dog needs a job to be happy. My job these days is solving my puzzles. I am a Working Dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!
