FF0007 Mother’s Day and/or Pink

easy cute dog card

It’s time for the Festive Friday Challenge, where every challenge is a party! For FF0007, we are honoring Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on May 13. The twist this challenge is “And/Or Pink”. You can create a Mother’s Day card, or a card featuring the color pink, or a pink Mother’s Day card! Any way you decide to create is fine with us! We would love to have you play along, so don’t forget to link up.

This week I created a pink card designed with my mother in mind.  Although she passed away many years ago, sometimes I will find myself sitting … thinking … missing her.

This clean and cute card is surprisingly simple to create.  Watercolor washes provide the back drop for the adorable bulldog reposing on a die cut bench.

Don’t you adore the quizzical look on this pup’s face? I love bulldogs.

I’m also in love with this potted plant.  I wouldn’t mind having a few of these for my back porch! Of course, every plant deserves a Share What You Love Artisan Pearl, available in the new catalog.  A double Powder Pink bow and snippet of ribbon was added as a finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed this cute and easy dog card.  Don’t forget,  Sitting Pretty and the coordinating Pretty Park Framelits will be available when the new catalog goes live!

The Challenge Twists

As mentioned earlier, Festive Friday is a challenge with twists.  If you do not wish to create a Cinco de Mayo project, you could create a project featuring glitter/glimmer paper.  We offer alternatives for each challenge.  Plus, if you play along with us, you will be earning Fest Points which can be redeemed for items such as tutorials (including the tutorial for today’s card), retired Stampin’ Up! products, design team cards, and even a spot as a Guest Designer! But remember:  To earn Fest Points, you need an account on the challenge site. Just click on login/register on the challenge site to get started.

Stamp Review Crew: Truly Tailored Edition

Masculine Joyfold card

It’s time for the Stamp Review Crew: Truly Tailored Edition! If this is your very first visit to one of our hops, the Stamp Review Crew is a group of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set used in a variety of ways, giving you loads of inspiration for that set. The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog. You will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want. This week we are featuring the Truly Tailored stamp set. If you are following along in order, you have just arrived from the oh-so-talented Tanya Boser.  After visiting me, you will continue to the next stop,  Jay Soriano.

The Stamp Review Crew: Truly Tailored Edition
A Masculine Joy Fold Card

Masculine Joyfold Card

The Truly Tailored set is a masculine set which will be retiring at the end of May.   I fell in love with the True Gentleman Suite, to which this set belongs, especially the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper.  To showcase two of my favorite patterns of this paper, I decided to pair them with my favorite sentiment from the set, in a classic joy fold card … or in this case, a “boy fold” card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Today’s card is a Joy Fold design.  One of the best tutorials for creating this fold can be found HERE on Splitcoaststampers. I find this design is perfect for showing off designer papers, like these fabulous plaid and gambler stripe patterns.

The sentiment was selectively inked using Stampin’ Write Markers, and cut out using a circular Stitched Shapes framelit.

As I mentioned previously, I LOVE these papers.  Earlier this year, I created a similar card using them.

If you would like to create the above card, Click Here for a tutorial.

And for those of you who prefer quick and easy, here is another card!

This is such an awesome layout, and the dimensions are easy:

  • 2-3/4″ wide x 4″ high – Designer Series Paper
  • 3″ wide x 4-1/4″ high – Mat
  • 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″  –  Card Base

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards.  If would like to try your hand at creating your own Truly Tailored card,  the supply list is located below.  Clicking on a product takes you right to my store.   You will receive a little somethin’-somethin’ from me IF you use the Host Code.   If your order is $150 or more, please do not use the Host Code.  You will automatically receive the gift from me, as well as your own Host Rewards.

Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Now hop along to Jay Soriano to see what he has in store for you!  If you get lost along the way, you can find a list of all the hoppers at The Stamp Review Crew.  Until next time…
