On the CASE: Signs of Santa Christmas Card

Santa Christmas Card

Nicole and I are back On the CASE working through current Stampin’ Up!® catalogs, breaking down gorgeous samples step-by-step, and providing you with free tutorials so you can CASE your own. This week I am featuring a Signs of Santa Christmas card from the Holiday Catalog. Enjoy!

Santa Christmas Card

I love the child-like quality of the Signs of Santa set and the coordinating Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s my goal to CASE each of the cards. For today, I started with the Santa Christmas card, the one in which he is in his sleigh (upper left). I hope you enjoy today’s case.

“On the CASE” Notes

3.  Die cut a 3″ Scalloped Circle from vellum and adhere to the card base, offsetting slightly to the right.

4.  Die cut a 2-3/4″ circle from Pool Party cardstock, and adhere atop the vellum scallop with dimensionals.

5. Fussy cut the Santa in Sleigh from the designer paper.  Adhere to the Pool Party circle.  Tip: You may find it easier to use an Exacto knife to remove the area inside the runners.

6.  Ink the sentiment in Garden Green and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Punch out using the 1-1/2″ circle punch.

7. Loop a Baker’s Twine bow behind the sentiment and adhere to the card base.

How Hard Was It to Crack This CASE

Today’s card is easy-peasy, but if fussy cutting frightens you, this may not be the card for you.  However,  a person would not have to cut the white out of the runners…it would still be an adorable card even if you didn’t. Difficulty Level:  2 out of 5, for fussy cutting

First Frost Congratulations Card

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

First Frost isn’t just for the holidays, as you can see.  This congratulations card, despite looking difficult to create, really isn’t hard as long as you don’t mind fussy cutting.

The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock covered with Blackberry Bliss Frosted Floral Designer Series Paper. The wreath was created using the Seasonal Wreath Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It was given a wash of Pear Pizzazz, and then snipped out and popped on top of the card base with dimensionals.  A brushing of Wink of Stella gives it a beautiful sparkle.

The flowers were made using the smaller blossom image in the set.  It was inked in Blackberry Bliss,  then cut out using the appropriate die. Next, it was spritzed with water, crumpled up, and set aside to dry.  This was repeated in order to create a total of five blossoms.

While the blossoms were drying, the sprig with three leaves was inked in Tranquil Tide. The leaves were brushed over with a Blender Pen to deepen the color, and then snipped off to use in the focal point. The Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies were used to create vellum leaves and Sparkle Glimmer Paper berries.

First Frost

After the blossoms were dry, they were uncrumpled, and adhered to the card, along with the vellum leaves, glimmer paper berry twig, and stamped leaves.  Rose metallic thread and  rhinestones were used as accents.

Clean and Simple Sweet Treat Card for PP419

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the talented LeAnne Pugliese designed a Clean and Simple Sweet Treat challenge for us.

Clean and SimpleI thought my Candy Cane Season stamp set would be perfect for this challenge, especially when paired with the candy cane paper found in the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper Collection.  If you need a quick and cute holiday card, please give this one a try!

Isn’t this such a cute little card? I think it would be perfect to place on a plate of cookies you may be delivering to a friend.  And if you switch out the sentiment, how cute would this be to give to a child?

Would you like to make one? It’s such an easy card.  I started with Whisper White Thick cardstock, 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ for the card base.  The sheet of designer paper measures 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, and is offset to one side.

clean and simpleThe candy cane and bow were stamped in Poppy Parade, and punched out with the Candy Cane Builder Punch.  The Shaded Spruce holly leaves were fussy cut.  A Stitched Shapes oval is the perfect backdrop for our sweet treat.

I’ll be anxious to hear what you think of today’s clean and simple sweet treat card,  so don’t forget to leave a comment.  And don’t forget to visit the rest of the Design Team for more sweet inspiration!
