You might think from reading today’s title that today’s card is a wedding card. Surprise! The answer is “nope”! It’s a card that does exactly as the name implies. It does indeed feature something old and something new, but it’s from my stamping stash. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.

This week the incredible Joanne is hosting our theme challenge. What fun she has in store for us with the theme of Something Old, Something New! She is asking us to pair a new craft item with an old craft item. I used a variety of retired dies, pairing them with gorgeous new paper called Beautiful Gallery. This paper will be available on May 6th, when the new Annual Catalog goes live. I can’t wait to see your something old and something new!

The Stampin’ Check Designs Tips
I LOVE Joanne’s challenge! Sometimes I feel guilty using retired products on a card, but I am a firm believer that if you genuinely love a product, there is no need to hide it away in a drawer. By all means, use it! How fun it is to pair those beloved products with something new. In my case, I pulled out this simple image of a house from one of my favorite designer series paper found in the new 2025 – 2026 Annual Catalog called Beautiful Gallery. Older products I used included the In the Woods and Horse & Sleigh dies for the trees, which were die cut from one of my favorite papers from the past, Distressed Gold. The lovely subtle texture was achieved with the retired Tasteful Textile embossing folder. It has always been one of my favorites and so is the retired Double Oval Punch, which makes punching out sentiments a breeze! It was great pulling these old war horses out of the stable for another ride!

Nueve’s Notes
Hey, Mom’s Friends! It’s me, Nueve! I have some good news to share! I had my 9-week checkup with Doc Rita on Wednesday. She said my knee joint was strong and stable. BUT I am not cured yet.

Mom explained that now the hard part starts. We have to get my musskels stronger or else I could re-hurt my leg again. When I couldn’t do very much, my musskels disappeared. I don’t know where they went. This is my owie hind leg, and my once beautiful Boxer behind has no musskels. But Doc Rita told Mom I could start walking up and down hills. I can also do sits and downs. Doc Rita calls them “doggie push-ups”.

I still cannot run and play. Uncle Q knows that makes me sad, so he tries to make me feel better by laying near me.

I also have my ‘corns to cheer me up and keep me company!

Plus I got a special gift from one of Mom’s stamping friends to make me feel better. It’s my very own Boxer puppy!

Doc Rita said Mom and I still need to be patient. I still can’t run. I still can’t play with Sixxy and Uncle Q. I still can’t go up and down stairs. Mom is still sleeping on the floor in the living room so we can all cuddle with her. But I know that with Mom by my side, I will get better.

Having faith in those who love me and following their directions is part of my job. I am a Working Dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!
