Butterflies have long been a harbinger of spring. While the Spring Equinox is on March 20th this year, I don’t expect butterflies to be making their appearance any time soon here in SE Iowa.  However, I can deliver a breath of spring to someone’s mailbox with this Butterfly Note Card.  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

This week I have the honor of hosting our monthly sketch challenge. What I have selected for you is a sketch that hopefully “layer lovers” and “clean and simple aficionados” will both love.  Dress it up with layers and embellishments, or keep it on the simpler side. The choice is yours! We can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Sometimes all you need is a gorgeous die cut, a simple sentiment, and a fussy cut butterfly to make a card come to life.

The stunningly ornate die is from the Flowering Vines collection.  For added dimension, I adhered Butterfly Bijou paper, available March 2nd, to a foam adhesive sheet before die cutting it out.  The fussy cut butterfly also comes from this same designer paper collection.  The wonderful thing about this card is that you can change out the sentiment for almost any occasion…birthday, thank you, wedding, anniversary, get well, thinking of you and more!

It’s Clean and Simple week at The Paper Players, hosted by the talented and sweet LeAnne.  With a focus on felines of any type, this should be a super fun challenge.  I can’t wait to see what you create!  But remember, by clean and simple we mean cards that:

  • Have minimal layers and embellishments
  • Have plenty of open space, aka “white” space
  • Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Clean and simple week is always a tough one for me.  It’s not that I don’t like clean and simple cards. In fact I am so envious of those people who are masters of this style. It’s just that I have a tendency to add layers and pile on pearls!  With today’s challenge I really tried to keep it simple.

I had a ton of fun with dies when creating this card!  I used the cute Stitched With Whimsy die to add interest to my background.  The large heart was created using the Be Mine Stitched dies.  The adorable label was die cut courtesy of the Stitched Nested Label dies.  Of course, the grumpy looking kitty was fussy cut from the Pampered Pets designer series paper. Isn’t he a cutie patootie? This was such a quick and easy card to create.  Once again, you could switch out the sentiment for a birthday or thank you if you wished.

Ready to celebrate the special women in your life? I am, with today’s “To An Incredible Woman” card.  It’s time to get festive at Festive Friday – the home of the Inspo List!

For this week’s challenge,  we are inspired by International Women’s Day. Remember – at Festive Friday, you do not need to actually celebrate the occasion.  Your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project.  I used a heart, flowers, and a female sentiment on my card this week.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I just can’t say enough about the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper collection.  It is well-worth placing a $50 order just to get this paper as your free item! One side of the paper is a floral, while the opposite side is a coordinating pattern, as can clearly be seen with today’s card. In fact, I am going to be creating a series of birthday, thank you, hello, and just-a-note cards using the same layout as today’s card, but with the other patterns. That is how much I LOVE this paper!

FLOWER & FIELD 12" X 12" (30.5 X 30.5 CM) DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

The largest Stitched So Sweetly die cut forms a perfect backdrop for the floral.  I adhered it to a panel of Cherry Cobbler so it would contrast against the Bumblebee background.  Although it doesn’t show up, the centers of the Cherry Cobbler flowers were colored with Clear Wink of Stella for a touch of sparkle.  A simple Bumblebee Gingham ribbon bow, along with a resin heart, accents the sentiment.  How easy would it be to substitute a variety of sentiments!  The possibilities are endless.
