Happy Spring PP727

What better way to wish someone “Happy Spring” than with a bouquet of spring flowers! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

This week, sweet Claire is hosting our Theme Challenge. What a timely theme she has for us: Spring Flowers. It won’t be long until the flowers of the season will greeting us with their lovely blooms. My card today is super easy to make. I can’t what to see what YOU create!

Today’s card is easy-peasy, and can be made in a very short amount of time. You may be wondering “how”. The answer lies in the paper. The gorgeous die cut image which serves as the focal point is part of the Wildflower Birthday designer series paper collection. It consists of 12 sheets of patterned paper: 2 each of 5 double-sided designs, 2 each of 1 single-sided sheet of die cuts. In fact, the sweet Pretty in Pink gingham paper is from the same paper pack. I used the Perennial Postage dies to create the perfect setting for the flowers. The sentiment is from the Storybook Friends stamp set. Isn’t it a lovely script? I punched it out using an old Stampin’ Up! oval punch from back in the day and adhered it onto a Blueberry Bushel oval mat, which I hand-cut. The “trellis” is from the Celebrate Love Mix & Match Ephemora Pack. A trio of Regal Foiled Dots add the perfect bling. See how easy it was? The most difficult part was hand-cutting the oval mat for the sentiment.

Hey, Mom’s Stampin’ Friends! It’s me, Nueve. I know it has been a long time since I have talked with you. Sadly, I have some not so good news. Just when I was all ready to do ‘bedience stuff with my mom, I hurt my leg really bad. We were playing catch with my sloth ball in the backyard, and I must have landed wrong after I jumped up really high for it. I came back limping. Mom was really worried. When I was still limping the next morning, Mom took me to see one of my favorite friends, Doc Rita. Everytime I see her, she tells me I am handsome and she gives me treats. I like her. This time she took me back to a room where they take special pictures. She said I partially tore my Cranial Caudaul Ligament. It’s the same thing as an ACL in people. I’m not sure what either of them are, but Doc Rita, my mom and my dad were really worried. It made me so sad.

It made me even sadder when I found out I can’t run or play for 12 weeks. I’m not sure how long 12 weeks is, but I think it is very close to forever. Mom takes me outside on the leash, but only to potty. I have to takes meds and be really good. I can’t even go upstairs to the Big Bed, so Mom and I are sleeping downstairs in front of the fire box.

Mom is trying to keep my brain active so I don’t get bored and depressed. We play games, like “Which Cup Has the Treat?” and a really fun puzzle game she bought me. If I’m not better after all this rest, I have to have surgery. I don’t want that. So I am trying to be good.

I am going to work hard to get better so I don’t need surgery. I have to get better so I can get back to work. After all, I am a Working Dog. It’s what I do. I am Good Boy Nueve!

  1. Your card is gorgeous!!! This is one of my favorite paper packs! I love all the images!! So sorry to hear about Nueve!!! Simba and I hope he heals up quicky!

  2. Nueve, Harry and I wish you a speedy recovery. Please tell your mom her card is gorgeous.

  3. Ann, this card is a poster child for Spring! Those flowers are so pretty, a great mix of colors and look lovely combined with the pink gingham background. I think SU is pretty clever with the dsp designs that lend themselves to easy card making (except maybe trimming them out).

I am so sorry to hear about Neuve, that has to be really tough on all of you. I’m hoping he doesn’t require surgery…fingers crossed!

  4. Your card is so pretty. It’s neat that it’s quick and easy because sometimes you just need that when you are in a rush. The colors are really spring like and anyone would enjoy receiving this card. – So sorry that your sweet Nueve got hurt and has to take it easy. It’s not easy for animals to do that. Prayers for a quick healing time.

Pink gingham and a fabulous bouquet make for a fabulous card Ann – with minimal effort, the best! I am going to use that bunch of flowers on my Mother’s Day card this year – I think it’s great for impact. So sorry to hear about Nueve’s leg – and he was doing so well with his obedience classes too. Sending him an extra special hug and get well wishes!

  6. The pink and white gingham DSP really set this card off, and I love the spring look of it…just what we all need after a cold and bitter winter. Nueve, your kitty friend Butterscotch is rooting for you to heal quickly! I know you’re a good boy and will follow the doctor’s order, even if it’s hard to do sometimes!

  7. Carolyn Eveleigh

Lovely card, of course! I am always inspired by your creativity. But I am sorry Nueve is forced to be inactive for 12 weeks (sounds better than 3 months) Our Newfoundland did the same thing at a younger age, and he had surgery without the wait. It was successful, but to wait is good. I know ou are a wonderful Mom who wants that beautiful baby to mend. Sending love!

  8. What a super card, Ann. This set of DSP is just so easy to work and as you show, stunning as well! Love the combination of the checks with the bouquet.

  9. Gosh, you had me at the gingham, but all those flowers were icing on the cake! So fresh and pretty! Poor Nueve–hopefully those 12 weeks will zip right by!

  10. Karen in Florida

Your card is lovely, Ann! It would make a perfect Mother’s Day card!
The pink gingham is so pretty!!!
I believe you told me that Nueve hurt his leg, but I don’t think you knew at the time how bad it was. I’m so sorry! Tell your little big guy to be brave & strong.
Give him a kiss on the nose for me. I think you’ve had enough medical issues in your family for a while!! Huggs!

  11. I too love your card and had been wondering about Nueve. Sure love him, but am sorry to hear he is injured. Hug him for me, okay?

  12. Oh my! I had been missing Nueve and was excited to see his posting – until I read the news. I’m so sorry you are having to go through this with that sweet boy and hope it will all come to a good end.

And, of course, your card is beautiful and gives us hope for spring!

  13. Aww, poor Nueve! We went through that FOUR TIMES with the Lab mixes we had. Sadie tore hers trying to chase a rabbit that was on the other side of a fence when we were in England. She had the surgery, everything was going well, and then somehow 4 weeks into the 6-week recovery she broke the implant and we had to do it all again. Our other dog, Vader, tore his first one trying to run up the stairs to get dinner, but he couldn’t have surgery because he had some very wonky blood work, so we did a leg brace for him. Then he did the *other* leg and we had to do it all over again. I spent 4 months of my pregnancy sleeping on an air mattress in the basement so he wouldn’t be lonely…I was glad when he was able to do stairs again.

All that to say, the recovery process is long (and we did surgery twice and leg braces twice) but it is possible. Sadie injured her leg when she was 6 and she lived to be 14, Vader was 8 or 9 and he lived to 13 and neither one of them had mobility issues. It will take a while, but I know Nueve will be fine!

  14. Such a very pretty card! So sorry about your 4 legged guy. Hope he doesn’t need surgery ❤️‍🩹

  15. Oh, Ann, I always look forward to your cards and Nueve’s stories. Your beautiful creation brings joy into the sadness of Nueve’s injury. Even though I don’t know either of you personally, my heart and prayers are with him for total healing and strength to endure. Do you wonder how much understanding he has? I can’t imagine how long 3 months will seem to him. Even to humans it seems like forever.

  16. Claire Broadwater

Oh Ann, I just LOVE your card! The pink and white gingham is so pretty and that bouquet shouts Spring! The colors are so happy and I know this card would brighten anyone’s day!
Now, I must admit, I have tears in my eyes reading about Nueve! I am praying for you and that handsome baby! I know it is a trying time trying to keep him still. Keep me posted. I care!

  17. Bonnielee McGuire

That certainly is happy! I love it. Poor Nueve. If he had the surgery how long would he have to stay quiet? Longer or shorter than close to forever? So sorry.
