What better way to wish someone a happy birthday than with a bright and cheery birthday card! It’s time to play with The Paper Players!

This week I have the pleasure of hosting our sketch challenge. I have selected a fun and versatile sketch that I hope you will love. I went a botanical route with my card, but I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Colors Of The Day

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Ever since I was a tot, I loved to color. Oh, how I treasured a new box of crayons! Maybe that is why this leafy pattern, part of the Botanical Textures designer series paper collection, appealed to me. I could envision all the fun I would have coloring these images. Out came the Stampin’ Write markers, specifically Summer Splash. I didn’t even worry about whether I stayed completely within the lines. Any little mishaps added to the charm. The coloring session was relaxing and just what I needed. The card came together quickly and easily. A Poppy Parade die cut (Memorable Blooms die), perched atop circles created using the Spotlight on Nature dies, adds a “pop” of color. The lovely texture is courtesy of the Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder, while the sentiment is from the Greetings for All Ephemera Pack. How easy is that!

Nueve’s Notes
Hi, Mom’s Friends! It’s me, Nueve. I just wanted to let everyone know how I am doing. I had my two-week follow-up with Doc Rita a couple of weeks ago and I go in this Wednesday for my four-week follow-up. She’s going to take more special pictures. They are not like the pictures Mom takes of me. I have to go into a special room with Doc Rita and her helpers. It doesn’t hurt, but it is a little scary. The pictures are not very good. They just show my bones, but Doc Rita says they are important ’cause she can tell things about my “owie” leg. She was happy with how I was doing the last time I saw her. She said I could start going on short walks this past week, and that makes me happy.

When the weather is nice, Mom spends a lot of time with me outside. I stand where I can watch the neighbor sit on his porch. Mom said I shouldn’t stare, but I watch him anyway. I try to look handsome and pose for the neighbor, but I am losing some of my muscles. My obedience teacher, Miss Darcy, told Mom not to worry, ’cause when I get back to class, she will help me look handsome again.

Mom also lets me come out and be with Sixx and Uncle Q. They get to run all over the yard, but I stay next to Mom ’cause I still can’t run and play with them. I still have to be on my leash.

Mom did let me do something special on Friday. I got to go out on the back porch and watch the kids come home from school. I have missed watching them. I am good with the kids. I want a kid of my own some day, but Mom said “No”. I asked her if I could have a puppy, and she still said “No”. But she did say I might be able to get a another unicorn.

During my quiet times, I play with my puzzles. I am the bestest at solving them. Uncle Q doesn’t do very good with them at all. I tried to ‘splain to him that sometimes you slide them up to get the treat…

and sometimes you flip the lids up!

Teaching Uncle Q how to do puzzles is one job I can do while waiting for my leg to get better. I am a Working Dog. Jobs are what I do. I am Good Boy Nueve!

Your card is a beauty, Ann! The leaves colored in Summer Splash look sensational and especially paired with the “pop” of Poppy! The circle dies add such great detail, as does the crimped background. Just an overall WOWZER of a card, my friend!
Great to see Neuve getting out a bit. I hope his checkup on Wednesday goes well. Seems he’s been a good boy for you, that’s definitely a blessing!
Pretty card! I commend you and Nueve for your patience. Get well soon, buddy!
Ann, first, what a great sketch! I love it! Second, it’s fun to see that DSP and the corrugated EF in action! I just got mine and can’t wait to play with it. The way you’ve used these is wonderful, so bright and vibrant! But third, Nueve wants a kid of his own—tooo funny! He is a bright spot in my blog-reading!
I’ve seen a few cards with that DSP coloured Ann, but this is hands down my favourite! That green really stands out against the white and the black detailing is so sharp. As for the red diecut – unexpected and stunning all in one! And a fab sketch to boot!!
That pop of Poppy Parade was brilliant! It really made the card special. Butterscotch is purring up a storm because Nueve is getting better!
Thanks for giving us such a great sketch to play with. I enjoyed working with it. I like the way you’ve coloured the DSP and used such bright and strong colour palette. The result is very clean. I do love the embossing folder – it could well be my new favourite! 🙂
Ann… I love your crimped background! How fun and different is that… wow! I have to find my crimper… it is in a bin with other tools I don’t use enough! Such a great background…so much texture.
Lovely card, Ann! The Poppy foliage is an unexpected, pleasant surprise & it makes this a very “happy” birthday card! Thanks for the update on Nueve, too. I’m glad he’s getting better & being a good boy about taking care of his leg. Give him a kiss on the nose for me! Huggs from chilly but sunny Florida.
I really like this card – especially the Poppy Parade die cut – really eye-catching!
But what I really enjoyed was hearing from Nueve and the improvement in his owie leg!
I really appreciate your cards but love reading Nueve’s posts.
My did that card grab me and wake me up! It is stunning. I am always in awe of the card work you do and the way you do all the best things for Nueve and his sibs. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Down here, the service dogs to to the library and the kids read to them – maybe Nueve could have his own kid that way : )
