A Christmas Thank You Card

Making a card with an older stamp set can be as comforting as chatting with an old friend. This is exactly how I feel about one of my favorite retired stamp sets, Dashing Deer. It is still my go-to set to make a Christmas thank you card. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

This week, lovely LeAnne has a wonderful theme challenge for us:  Be A Deer! All you need to do is feature a deer on your card.  Although I had several options to create a deer-themed card using current products, I felt this was the perfect opportunity to use one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! images from the retired Dashing Deer stamp set.  Deer images are among my favorites, so I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I have always been a proponent for saving and using stamp sets that you love…those sets that feel like an old friend. That is what Dashing Deer is to me, an old friend. I love its elegant images, especially the stag with his glorious rack. To capitalize on this elegance, I used a Blackberry Bliss, Gold and Very Vanilla color scheme.  I kept the layout simple, using the Forever Plaid embossing folder to create a backdrop that enhanced the image, rather than detract from it.  A trio of gold Blooming Pearls and a decadent double bow added to the elegance.

I was so hoping you would reach for an old favourite for this challenge too Ann – there is something indeed so comforting in revisiting old favourites, and your deer is a beauty! Beautiful in Blackberry too to coordinate with that stylish ribbon bow.

  2. The words that spring to mind when describing your card are clean, crisp and elegant. Love that stag and it’s no wonder why you’ve kept him and stamped in blackberry, he looks fabulous. Love the velvet double bow as well. An absolutely gorgeous creation Ann!

  3. Beautiful and Oh, so Elegant.
One’s eyes are drawn to the Handsome and proud deer.
    Great color combination and layout.

  4. Stop it! So many great cards! This is one of my all time favourite Christmas stamps and a colour combination that I love. Perfect all around! Have a great week. 🙂

  5. Ann… this card makes me think you are an amazing gift wrapper! Elegant and the bow is perfect!

  6. All those small touches add up to a superb card! The Forever Plaid embossing folder is one of the most versatile I’ve used. It can be casual or formal, depending on your placement. I don’t have that deer, but I do have a previous die set with Santa and his sleigh that might work for my own adaptation. Thank you, Ann!

  7. Ann, another fabulous elegant card! I love how you kept the color scheme to a minimum to allow that fabulous deer to shine. I just love all the texture in the background, too. Stunning

  8. Ann, this is so elegant and regal! I love the embossing and your striking deer. The vanilla and gold are just wonderful accents along with that beautiful bow. You certainly rocked this challenge, My Friend!

  9. Your Dashing Deer reminds me I haven’t gotten him inky in a long, long time! He’s quite handsome in Blackberry Bliss, especially with the vanilla and gold accents. And that bow is the icing on the cake!

  10. Elegant and rich! Beautiful.
